Liberty Island is one of the most favorite destinations for tourists. Historical monuments, museums, natural and architectural sights, the hot sun, delicious food and hospitable locals are what the cities of Cuba are famous for. This list goes on and on. Although there are not many large cities on the island, each of them is good in its own way.
Capital of Liberty Island
Havana is Cuba's largest city and its capital. It has existed for about five hundred years. The architecture here is amazing. Buildings since the reign of colonial Spain are adjacent to modern skyscrapers, office centers, fashionable restaurants and hotels.
You should definitely see the local historical monuments - the remains of the Castillo del Morro and Castillo de la Punta fortresses. Havana has a powerful coastline. And the area of ββthe city as a whole slightly exceeds 200 square kilometers. Cities of
Cuba (Havana is no exception) are famous for their boulevards. In the capital, you should definitely take a walk along the Prado Boulevard, paved with colorful stones. The
Museum of Local
Lore, the Capitol, and the Academy of Sciences are located here.
Santiago
The resort towns of Cuba are spread all over the island. The second largest after Havana is the city of Santiago, which is perhaps the most famous. It can rightly be considered a city of museums. And every July there is held the richest carnival in the Caribbean - a festival of Caribbean culture. Santiago also has its own tourist center, Grand Pietro. This is a picturesque corner with all amenities for tourists, which is probably why it is the most popular.
Despite the fact that the cities of Cuba look quite modern, the locals honor traditions and sometimes behave too directly for the metropolis. They easily sit on the steps of houses, smoke, sing songs. In general, they are quite hospitable. But at first their noisiness and talkativeness can alert them, which is explained by the Cuban temperament.
Trinidad - Museum City
You should definitely visit Trinidad. Like many other cities in Cuba, it was founded in the early 16th century. But it most of all preserved ancient architecture. The Catholic churches, palaces, roads paved with cobblestones - this whole city is saturated with historicism, it attracts tourists. On each meter of this relatively small town you can take a stunning photo. There is a Museum of Romanticism, an archaeological museum, and even a museum to combat banditry!
Green Holguin
The city is known for the fact that the expedition of Christopher Columbus landed for the first time on this place . Holguin is incredibly beautiful due to the large number of bays and backwaters, rivers and canals. The town is small, and it is literally buried in the growth of tropical plants. There is a historical museum and the magnificent cathedral of San Isidoro.
Despite the relatively small size of the island, the cities of Cuba abound in sights. And in any of them you can spend a wonderful vacation, while you definitely will not be bored.
