History of creation
It began still forty years ago. The then chairman of the city executive committee, Nikolai Georgievich Yakhontov, took the initiative in creating the zoo, and also contributed financially to this.
However, in the 90s a critical moment came - animals became smaller, and they began to starve. Many leaders changed, and it didn’t lead to anything good.
But when Alexander Ivanovich Osipov became the director, the construction of the hay hangar, the strengthening of cages, the reconstruction of the roof over the Winter Garden, and the construction of the grain warehouse began immediately. Further, a summer arbor for birds, a veterinary corner, and new aviaries and housing for animals were built on the territory already.
Huge efforts were made to form the collection, and as a result, the number of species increased three times, and there were nine more copies. Already not only the house, but also the birthplace for animals has become a zoo. Lipetsk became one of the few cities in which the aquaterrarium first appeared. At the moment, boas and anacondas, skinks, bearded agamas and many other types of exotic animals live there.
Twelve years ago, Lipetsk Park became a member of the Euro-Asian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EARAZA). Also takes part in projects that are focused on breeding and conservation of rare species of animals.
In 2005, the opening of the branch of the Lipetsk Zoo "Bird Paradise". It is located in the cultural park of the city of Michurinsk. More than 35 different species of animals were presented to visitors of Bird Paradise.

Today in the zoo's aquaterrarium you can get acquainted with a boa constrictor, anaconda, skinks, trionixes, snake-necked turtles and others.
