Short description of the reservoir
The artificial reservoir was created in 1970. It arose thanks to the construction of the Charvak hydroelectric station on the Chirchik water stream. The Chatkal, Pskem and Koksu rivers, which originate in the mountains, carry clean, clear water to the Charvak reservoir. The depth of the reservoir in some places reaches 140 meters, and the area exceeds 37 square meters. km The reservoir is actively used for irrigation for farming in the Chirchik River Valley, so its level in the summer months can drop significantly. Despite the peculiarities of the location (mountainous terrain), its shores in many places have a gentle profile, and with a decrease in the water level wide sand spits of the shallows open.
