Bitsevsky Park (forest, forest park) is a well-known territory in the south-west of Moscow, occupying more than 2,200 ha. A specially protected zone was created in 1992, with the initiators of the reserve organization being residents of microdistricts located on the territory of Chertanovo, Zyuzino, Konkovo, etc.
The territory occupied today by Bitsevsky Park has been known to historians and archaeologists since ancient times. Finnish-Ugric tribes lived in the local forests, later the Vyatichi tribes, and after them the first villages appeared around the forest on the Bitsa River.
Bitsevsky park: notorious
Unfortunately, the park has become widely known to the inhabitants of Russia not so much for its archaeological and natural monuments as for the crimes of the Bitsa maniac. Alexander Pichushkin - serial killer and maniac - ruined fifty-one lives. And these are just proven facts.
Impressed by Chikatilo's “exploits”, the killer decided to surpass him in “effectiveness”. He kept a strict record of his victims: after each murder, he glued another cell of a special
chessboard. He wrote down the names of the dead, led the "execution" bookkeeping. At the trial, the killer said: he regrets that he did not close all the cells of the chessboard. Moreover, he planned to buy another and continue his crimes. During the activities of the serial maniac, Bitsevsky Park, which is the second largest
green zone in Moscow, was almost empty: residents were simply afraid to appear there. However, today the park has again become a popular place for walks, picnics and romantic dates. This is not surprising: the forest zone has a very complex and beautiful landscape. There are small rivers and small rivers, sonorous streams, almost bottomless ravines and shallow beams, historical barrows.
History buffs are attracted to magnificent garden and palace ensembles and complexes, ancient noble estates, and other historical monuments. You can have a great time in the park, be alone with nature or imagine yourself the owner of a luxurious old manor. Bitsa Park is interesting not only for residents of the surrounding area: it is of great importance for environmental protection.
