Location
In a rather interesting place is the Aqua Sun Village 4 *. Greece is a country of small towns and well-groomed villages that look like suburbs, and the Greeks try to use every inch of their mountainous land. On the coast of the Cretan Sea, about 20 km (in a straight line) from Heraklion, lies the ancient Chersonissos. It occupies a fairly wide strip of the coast. It is generally difficult to distinguish between where one village ends and another begins, since everything has long been mastered and built up. Up from Hersonissos, about 2 km from its center, lies the village of Piskopiano, smoothly passing into the village of Koutouloufari. Above them are only mountains, more precisely one mountain, Pyrgia. The four-star Aqua Sun Village is built at its foot. If at the gates of the hotel you become facing the sea, the road to the left will lead to Kutulufari, to which no more than a couple of hundred meters. The road down rests on the central highway Eleutherios Venizolos, to which about a kilometer. From this place to the sea’s edge is another 200 meters. Hersonissos will be on the left, to the outskirts of which 500 meters, and on the same highway to the right, tourists will find a number of gorgeous beaches, the elite village of Stalida and the city of Malju, to which from Hersonissos is less than 8 km.
How to get there
It is more convenient to travel to Crete from Russia by plane. The airport closest to Aqua Sun Village 4 * is located near Heraklion. It is called Nikos Kazantzakis. It is no more than 22 km from the hotel, which takes half an hour. Organized tourists at the airport are met by a representative of a travel agency, provide a shuttle service and drive to the hotel. Those who arrived to Crete on their own can take a taxi at the airport or take the bus to Heraklion bus station. There, take the bus to Hersonissos, and from there take a taxi to the hotel.
Description
Since Aqua Sun Village 4 * is not located in the city, but on the most Greek nature, nobody and nothing is embarrassing. Its territory is so large (4.5 hectares) that tourists travel freely around it in rented cars, scooters or ATVs. There is a spacious parking lot right at the central gate, but many park right at their hulls. The size of the territory allows to place a lot of entertainment objects on a large scale. This gives the impression that Aqua Sun Village is a real small town. There are central and residential buildings (15 in total), huge pools, an aquapark for large and small, sports grounds, tennis courts, numerous flower beds, a garden, a spa, a mini-store, and numerous recreational areas.
Sitting on them, you can admire the mountains and watch the soaring birds in the blue sky. In the central building there is a reception, nearby there is an equipped place for storing suitcases. In the lobby there is a bar, a games room for adults, where there are tennis and billiard tables, an internet corner. Reception staff speak Greek and English, do not understand Russian, but the hotel has an administrator who knows Russian.
Rooms
Only 330 rooms have in their infrastructure Aqua Sun Village 4 *. Reviews about them are mixed. The biggest minus tourists consider the inner door (locked), leading to the next room. This nullifies the soundproofing of the walls and complicates the rest. A significant advantage of the rooms is their spaciousness, good design, balconies where you can sit while admiring nature. The views from the windows of the rooms are different, depending on the location of the building. They can be on the sea, mountains, territory, pools, kitchen. Categories:
- Standard with an area of 22 squares. They are designed for 2 guests, plus, if necessary, an extra bed is provided.
- Family room with an area of 27 squares. These rooms are fitted with bunk beds and bunk beds.
- Family two-room with an area of 42 squares. There is no door leading to the next room. The layout includes two bedrooms, a small entrance hall with a kitchen area (there is a stove, but no utensils) and a hygiene room.
Each room has a TV (a couple of channels in Russian), a refrigerator (a minibar is not provided), a safe for a fee, air conditioning for free, hairdryer, telephone. Hygiene rooms are equipped with a shower, washbasin and toilet (in some rooms the drain is not powerful enough). Hygiene products are provided on the day of arrival and replenished regularly.
Nutrition
Many people buy Al-powered tours at Aqua Sun Village 4 * (Greece). Reviews about the restaurant and bars are good, but there is a comment that the "All Inclusive" here is valid only until 10 pm. There is one restaurant in the hotel. It is large, so there are always enough tables, chairs, appliances and food, there are practically no queues. The range of dishes in the restaurant is impressive. Here they offer cereals, cereals, eggs, various cuts and salads, cereals, milk, pastries, and drinks for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, there are always soups, meat, including lamb, goat, pork and beef, fish, chicken, pasta, rice, salads, feta, olives, vegetable dishes, ice cream, desserts, drinks. For dinner, there is a barbecue every day.
There are 2 bars in the Aqua Sun Village - the first in the lobby and the second by the pool. There are no snacks in them, only at 4 pm hours cupcakes are brought to the pool. Beverages, local wine, ouzo and soft drinks are free of charge. All are poured into glass cups, 2 per person.
A pleasant nuance - you can take any drinks and food out of the restaurant, no one is following this.
Hotel for children
Hotel Aqua Sun Village 4 * offers a lot of interesting things for kids. Guest reviews on the organization of children's vacations here are very good. Kids can have fun in the colorful playground or in the children's section of the water park with 70 cm deep pools and six slides. The room for them is equipped with a spacious room with toys, board and floor games, accessories for creativity. During the day, animators are having fun at the hotel. To relax comfortably, cots are provided in the rooms for the youngest, and special chairs are provided in the restaurant.
Leisure for adults
Entertainment for all tastes is in Aqua Sun Village Water Park 4 *. Reviews about the organization of leisure only positive. On the territory there is a water park with three slides, three large deep pools. In two of them, sea water, in one fresh. Around them and in the tanning areas are set nice umbrellas and solid sun loungers. For sports enthusiasts, tennis courts, squash, darts, volleyball, soccer, mini-golf are equipped here. There is also an excellent fitness room with exercise equipment. Hotel guests can relax in the spa, where there are massage rooms, a sauna, a hammam. In the evening, a disco invites all active people, but it works only until 12 at night. So the noise from her does not bother anyone.
Beach
Not very convenient in relation to the sea coast is the hotel Aqua Sun Village 4 *. Crete has dozens of equipped and wild beaches, each of which has a clear sea, but there is not a good sand everywhere. There are beaches where stone slabs are laid, and the entrance to the water is not at all suitable for kids. There are very comfortable beaches equipped with cabins and other amenities, but they are always crowded. Guests of the hotel in question can walk to Star Beach. From the hill down to him a quarter of an hour go, but you have to come back up, overcoming a rather steep climb. Since a shuttle service is not provided, all who find it difficult to walk, especially uphill, take a taxi. A trip of 1,200 meters costs 5 euros. Star Beach itself is not bad, clean, with a gentle approach to the sea, with taverns located nearby and with a lot of water activities.
If you drive towards Stalida from the hotel, you can discover a more convenient beach, where the conditions of rest are much more comfortable.
Additional Information
Active guests will certainly appreciate the location of Aqua Sun Village 4 * near the village of Kutulufari. There are dozens of great taverns with true Greek food and live music. Also in Koutouloufari there are shops with Greek goods, sweets, fruits. But, being in Crete, everyone wants to look at its sights, to go on excursions. They can be bought at a hotel from tour operators or at a travel agency located near the beach. The most popular trips to the cities of Rethymnon, Malia, Agios Nikolaos. Here you can arrange a profitable shopping. You can travel by bus, without buying excursions, to any village of Crete, to the Palace of Knossos, the cave of Zeus and other attractions, but it is most convenient to rent a car and independently travel around the island without being tied to the public transport schedule.
Reviews
Aqua Sun Village 4 * is very popular with some guests, while others are not happy with it. This is mainly due to the location of the hotel on a steep climb at the foot of the mountain. Those who are ready in advance to walk uphill from the beach for at least 15 minutes or take a taxi every time do not consider this a big minus, but the beautiful nature around, the clean air and wonderful views from the hill undoubtedly become a significant plus.
Noted by most tourists, the advantages of the hotel:

- cars passing through the hotel;
- old furniture and design with a door to the next room, which is why there is absolutely no sound insulation;
- there are no guards on water slides;
- All-inclusive meals are valid only until 10 pm;
- the hostility of individual hotel workers;
- lack of packed lunches when tourists go on an excursion;
- rarely when check-in is received earlier than 14-00.
