What is unusual for the Tobol River? First of all, by geographical location. It flows through the two largest states of Eurasia - Russia and Kazakhstan. In Kazakh, its name sounds close to the Russian version - Tobyl. The ancient handsome man pours his waters into the Irtysh, being her left tributary. The Tobol River has an impressive length of almost 1,591 kilometers. No less impressive is the total catchment area. It totals, no less, 426 thousand kilometers. The Tobol River is connected with a huge number of lakes - more than 20,000. Its sources should be sought near Bozbi and Kokpektisay. It was the merger of these rivers that gave rise to Tobyl - on the eastern borders of the South Urals and the Kostanai region (Kazakhstan). Gaining strength, spilling in breadth, the Tobol River flows further through the expanses of Western Siberia.
Natural characteristics
The water supply is mixed. In the upper reaches it is due to the melting of snow and ice. The lower the descent along the channel, the greater the water level in the Tobol River depends on the rains spilling in those areas. In the lower reaches , the water level in the Tobol River is replenished until the first half of August. In addition to natural factors, a complex of reservoirs, the degree of flow / withdrawal of water in them, have a serious effect. With the onset of cold weather, from the end of October to November, Tobol is usually covered with ice. Melting occurs in mid-April. Also, the level of the Tobol River is determined by its left tributaries - Uy and Iset (small), Tura and Tavda, playing the role of important navigable arteries of Siberia. The right tributary of Tobyl is the Ubagan River. The Tobolsk channel is quite winding, and the flow of water is smooth, calm.
National economic value
This “blue artery” of the country is interesting in many ways. During the flood period, the forest is floated in large batches along it. Shipping is of regional importance and is active before the onset of frost. Ways of other passenger and freight water vehicles extend 430 km from the mouth.
