Oka is a trademark of the Murom Engineering Plant . After a large-scale reconstruction of production, this company was renamed. Currently it is called “Oka-Kholod” and produces a new range of refrigerators available to a wide range of consumers together with the Turkish company VEKO.
The famous Murom Engineering Plant was founded at the end of the nineteenth century (in 1867). Over its history, the company has changed several names and basic profiles of core business. In various years, the factory launched production of tanks and machine tools, excavators and cranes. The Oka refrigerator was released in the mid-sixties of the last century. Work on this household appliance was carried out only during hours, free of orders from the military industry. In this regard, there is nothing surprising in the fact that the Oka refrigerator has not changed its lineup for a long time. Modification 6M was produced at the plant for more than twenty-five years and was often found in free sale, despite the lack of choice and a shortage in the distribution network of household appliances.
The emergence of market relations has caused serious problems that faced the Murom plant. The outdated Oka refrigerator, which had low build quality, was rapidly losing its already unenviable position in the Russian household appliance market. Production required urgent modernization, which was carried out over two years. As early as two thousand and two, Oka-Holod introduced a new line of refrigerators.
Large funds were invested in equipment involved in the main technological processes. The goal set by the leaders of Oka-Holod was to raise the quality of manufactured household appliances to a competitive level in the CIS market.
The updated refrigerator "Oka" liked the mass consumer. Despite this, the share of this equipment in the Russian market is small. The whole financial condition of the company and difficulties in organizing production are to blame. However, budgetary single- or double-chamber refrigerators under the Oka brand are able to compete with Belarusian and Russian counterparts.
The bulk of household appliances of the Murom plant, which is currently in operation, was produced during the Soviet era. Its repair is not required so often, because these devices can be used for decades. More than ninety percent of the production of those times was accounted for by the Oka 6M refrigerator, the instruction manual of which helps modern specialists to identify the cause of the malfunction and quickly eliminate it.
As a rule, motors are especially reliable in these household appliances. Therefore, repair of Oka refrigerators is carried out only in connection with the natural wear of its parts.
