Why do I need a magnifier for embroidery
Since patterns for embroidery, as a rule, are printed quite finely, reading them requires a noticeable eye strain. In addition, the markings on the canvas are also usually too small. Thanks to them, reading patterns and the embroidery process become more convenient, simpler, and, importantly, faster. Varieties
There are 4 main types of loops used in needlework.
- On the shoelace. They are hung around the neck using a length-adjustable lace. The main advantage of such models is the embroiderer's free hands and the ability to comfortably fit anywhere. The needlewoman looks down at work through magnifying glasses.
- Headband magnifier for embroidery . The device, as its name implies, is mounted on the forehead. If necessary, at certain points the magnifier is lowered before the eyes. Like the first variety, it allows you to keep your hands free and embroider anywhere.
- Table magnifier . It is mounted on a table, has a stable base, a flexible tripod-holder, a swivel mechanism. Depending on the specific needs, the needlewoman can adjust the height of the device and the angle of inclination optimally for herself. Most often, magnifiers of this type are equipped with backlight.
- Magnifier for embroidery on a clothespin . In design, it is similar to the previous version, but more versatile in use. Using a clothespin, the magnifier is attached either to the edge of the embroidery machine, the hoop, or to the table.
If the choice of a needlewoman becomes a magnifier with a backlight for embroidery, her work will be more accurate, and her eyes will get rid of a significant amount of load. If the device does not have a backlight, you should take care of purchasing a convenient lamp. Practice shows that ordinary lighting devices in the apartment do not allow the needlewoman to comfortably do what she loves. In particular, directional light is required for embroidery.
What to look for when choosing
- The main thing to consider is where the embroidery process mainly takes place. It is more convenient for one needlewoman to create sitting on a sofa. Others work at a table, and still others at a special machine. Based on where the lamp with a magnifying glass for embroidery will be located, it is worth choosing the appropriate model.
- The second important criterion is the magnification of the increase. Most needlewomen use devices that increase 2.5-3 times. But there are loops that increase by 7.5 times, and even by 10. Based on what types of embroidery the needlewoman deals with, it is worth choosing the optimal magnification factor. The finer the pattern, the larger it should be. There are models with interchangeable lenses with different magnifications (often 2-3 different lenses are included). Ideally, if the magnifier for embroidery provides the ability to change lenses. This significantly increases the scope of its application.
- The third significant point is the diameter of the magnifier. Too small devices are best not to buy. The minimum recommended diameter is 10 cm.
