If a person is talented, then a lot of things are available to him in life, at least, it is customary to think so.
Talents and geeks
Typically, special abilities manifest themselves in childhood. Young talent easily copes with the tasks that mature specialists sometimes have to cope with. Such gifted children even came up with a special name - “geeks” (from German - an amazing child).
Those who do not shine with abilities, wit teasing "Kinderwood", which from the same German language translates as "child-tree." Gifted children, growing up, rarely become geniuses. Spoiled by praise and accustomed to the fact that everything is easy for them, they are defenseless against the harsh realities of the adult world, and the need to work hard often causes them to protest and disgust.
Abilities and Labor
What is talent buried in the ground? It is clear that the special abilities for a certain type of activity are, in modern economic language, an intangible asset. It is impossible to do manipulations with him, as with some thing. It is understood that the ancient monetary unit (1 talent = 6 thousand drams), buried as a treasure, is withdrawn from useful turnover and does not bring profit.
So an intangible, but very important gift must remain in perpetual motion, otherwise its value, unlike the face value of a precious coin buried in the ground, will not be preserved, and there is no question of usefulness in this case. When asked about what talent is, one brilliant musician replied that this was a fraction of the ability, and everything else was a huge job.
The scientific approach to finding talent
Moreover, whatever the talent, it requires identification. It is great if the parents understand that the child has special abilities during his early childhood, and will make efforts to develop them. For example, Wolfgang Mozart’s father taught his children music from childhood, sometimes very hard forcing them to practice musical notation, solfeggio and other, at first glance, boring things.
Teachers and sociologists have been trying to put on a scientific basis the identification of abilities in early childhood for the past few decades. In the 80s of the XX century G. Gardner’s book “The Framework of the Mind” was published, in which he classified the tendencies of people to different types of activities and defined what talent is when applied to a future profession, highlighting eight of its main types. Endowment can manifest itself in verbal-linguistic, digital, spatial, physical, personal, interpersonal directions, as well as in a person’s relationship with the natural environment.
Such a classification, however, despite its apparent universality, does not answer the questions about what talent is, what its boundaries are, where it comes from and why talented people are surprisingly versatile.
The mystery and tragedy of geniuses
It is believed that great writers reach a peak of creativity at about the age of thirty, when they gain a certain life experience. However, the early works of some poets and writers sometimes surprise with the maturity of thoughts and wisdom, usually of unusual youth.
As a rule, the best talents of the world lived brightly, but not for long, and their fate could not be called prosperous. God's gift is not only the happiness of creativity, but also a huge burden. The need to express something that overwhelms the soul cannot be restrained, and the process of creating a masterpiece is very painful. In addition, the subtle soul of the master always acutely feels the envy of mediocre colleagues and the rejection of the townsfolk.
The great Russian talents that enriched world culture are no exception. If we list only the poets who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries, we can only sadly marvel at the tragedy of the fate of Pushkin, Lermontov, Griboedov, Yesenin, Mayakovsky, Blok, Mandelstam, Brodsky and many others. Well, such is the destiny of a genius, hard, but still happy.
