Advantages and disadvantages of knitting on two knitting needles
It is believed that knitting socks on five knitting needles is uncomfortable, although the product is even. And the needlewoman does not need to count the loops that are evenly distributed on them. Socks on two knitting needles, according to needlewomen, have a lot of advantages:
- knitting speed increases;
- does not require much space in the bag;
- the loops do not fly off and the product remains intact;
- You can knit two socks at once on circular or long knitting needles.
You can argue only with the first statement. For beginners knitters and craftswomen, accustomed to knitting in one technique, it will be difficult at first to master the new pattern. The speed of knitting will be minimized until the girl remembers the instructions.
There is one drawback to these socks - this is a count in the mind. That is, when knitting the heel, which in traditional knitting is divided into three parts, here you have to count the loops on one. By the way, you can knit socks on two knitting needles in different ways, so there is no single pattern. But conditionally they can be divided into “myosse” and “heel” products.
Knitting socks with heels
Knitting begins with elastic. Gather the same number of loops that you knit on four knitting needles, just keep in mind that the extreme ones will be edging. Knit an elastic band of the necessary height. Next, knit with any ornament, for example, with the front smooth surface, the distance between the elastic and the heel.
Now knit a heel, but a little bit
Wow, not as if you were knitting ordinary socks. On two knitting needles, the scheme involves dividing the loops into 4 parts and knitting the heel in two middle parts with crochets and shortened rows. For example, you have 44 items in the work, which means there are 11 in each part. Now you need to go to the middle, knit three parts, make a crochet, and turn the work on the wrong side. Further, only the loops of the middle parts are knitted, and on the one hand we do not knit the last, and on the other we do the yarn until 8 st. The second part of the heel is knitted similarly.
Next, we perform the sock, in the place of the toe there is a fourfold decrease, that is, the number of loops is mentally divided into four parts, where the first and last are knitted together. To make the decrease smooth, they begin to do it in every even row, and then in the odd one. The last step is stitching the product.
Toe Socks
Gather half of the loops, as for socks on five knitting needles (for example, 24 out of 48 stitches). Then you knit according to the picture: the odd rows are all facial, only the last loop is wrong; even rows - all wrong, the last not
tied up. Such shots should be about a third or a quarter of the total number of loops (in our example, it is 8-5 p.).
Then they are also knit in stages (so that there are no holes in the product, raise the yarn - the knitted loop of the previous row). Thus, a toe is formed. Then the foot of the sock is knitted to the heel according to the same plan as the toe. The last step is to tie the elastic, and the sock is ready.
Each craftswoman comes up with her own simplified version of knitting. So, some advise knitting the middle of the toe without a toe and heel, which are then knitted and sewn. There are socks on two knitting needles seamless and with a seam. How comfortable they are to wear and beautiful, you need to look at work. In any case, it is better to experiment with patterns and texture of threads, then your socks will be original and unique.
