One of the most popular outfits for Halloween and other holidays with elements of a masquerade is still a witch costume. Evil and kind, mysterious, wayward, capricious and unpredictable, these powerful sorceresses have been exciting the imagination of people for many centuries. And, of course, an indispensable attribute of a real witch is her headdress.
So, we will prepare the materials
The witch's hat is made quite simple. Of the materials you will need cardboard for a pattern, a pencil, scissors, ordinary wire (it’s better to take a couple of millimeters in diameter), wire cutters to work with it, a fabric that will fit the future hat (black felt is best), starch, ribbon for decorating tulle, solder with a soldering iron, buckle or bouquet for decoration.
Beginning of work
How to make a witch hat ? Start by determining the desired wire length. First measure the head. With such a volume, cut off the wire and make a small circle with which we will fasten the fields and tulle. Now we draw the same circle on cardboard, add the width necessary for the fields to its radius, and draw a second, already large, circle. We measure its length and cut the wire into a large circle. Wire is needed for support, cardboard - for the hat itself (it will be necessary to tighten it with a cloth). Further, the witch's hat is done like this: we determine the height and calculate the cone, then from the corner of the cardboard we postpone the calculated height of the tulle, draw an arc. The cone is ready. We cut out the pattern, take wire circles and solder them.
Tula
The witch hat pattern is ready. We transfer it to the prepared fabric, leaving, of course, allowances. For fields we cut 2 parts, for tulle - one. We sew the last one along the slices so that a cap is obtained. Now we bend its lower edge, put a small wire circle in its fold, hem the hem from the inside. Try to do everything more carefully so that the product looks more elegant. The next stage is starch of tulle, all but the tip (the tip may hang). If you want the witch's hat to be all stiff, then we don’t leave the tip.
Fields
We fold the cut fields together so that the front side is inside, and we sew them in the outer circle (you can also sew it by hand, but it takes longer), then we turn it out and gently iron it. Now we take a large circle of cardboard and put it into the fabric. The resulting bends in a small section should be turned away so that they can be sewn into the finished tulle. We sew everything together, before this glue or paste, having missed the hem of the fields and tulle. By the way, the headgear fields can be made not hard, with cardboard, but soft (some hats are also found in witches).
Shutdown
Our witch hat is almost ready, all that remains is to decorate it. To do this, we sew on the tulle at the very margins the prepared ribbon (the black satin is ideal), and fasten a bright buckle on it. An alternative is to take a bunch of twigs and small pumpkins instead of a buckle. On the edges of the fields you can attach pieces of black tulle, sew a little black shiny beads. Now that we’ve figured out how to make a witch’s hat and sewed it, you can safely go on holiday.
