Tourists looking for a truly paradise, quiet, comfortable and picturesque place will certainly enjoy the Balos Bay. Crete is one of the most beautiful and well-equipped holiday islands and an excellent Greek resort. Every year it receives hundreds of thousands of tourists. Each resort is beautiful and unique in its own way, but there are places that are simply impossible to forget; Crete also has them. Balos Bay is the perfect combination of the natural beauty of the beach and the sea. It is located in the northwest of the island, near Gramvousa.
The bay is notable for the fact that it is here that the confluence of three
seas occurs
: the Libyan, Aegean and Ionian. Researchers managed to identify about 14 shades of water in the sea, the sand in this place is also unique, snow-white, and in some places there are interspersed with pink. The Tigani Peninsula formed a shallow, because of which the depth in the bay does not rise above the knees, in summer the water warms up to 35 Β° C. To swim in depth, you need to go beyond the shallows, but itβs cooler there.
There are two ways to get to Balos: by sea and land. The first option is simpler and more beautiful, since the ship offers a wonderful view of the bay. Tourists need to come to Kissamos, and from there transfer to a ship. This method has its drawbacks: firstly, vacationers will not be able to appreciate the real beauty of nature, which opens from the land, and secondly, for a strictly limited time, Balos Bay is unlikely to be appreciated.
Crete is a very beautiful island, and it is worth it to go around all its best places. You can rent a car and get to the bay yourself. This option has a huge advantage: the traveler himself determines the time that he is ready to spend on a walk through a wonderful paradise. It is best to rent a jeep, since the road is not easy, in places it is blurry and very narrow, but no difficulties will stop tourists, because Balos Bay is ahead.
Crete has prepared many surprises for travelers, which you can learn about only by going all the way. The asphalt road ends near the Balos Beach Hotel, then there is 8 km of dirt road, on the one hand there are mountains, and on the other there is a cliff, so you need to go at low speed. The trip ends with parking, then you should take water, necessary things with you and walk 2 km, going down to the water. You have to go back the same way, but going up, of course, itβs better to do it in the evening, and not in the afternoon under the scorching sun. Although the walk promises to be long, Balos Bay is worth it.

Crete is distinguished not only by its picturesque nature, but also by its amazing beaches. In the bay, the sand is special, snow-white with a pinkish tinge. The beach here has long been considered wild, and even now there are not many umbrellas and deck chairs on it. But this has its charms, you can find a secluded place and be alone with the surrounding nature, listen to the rustle of the wind, the sound of waves, lie down under the gentle rays of the sun. It is this beach that is considered one of the best in the whole Mediterranean, not for nothing that Prince Charles and
Princess Diana spent
their honeymoon here
. Anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the picturesque scenery should go to: Greece, Crete, Balos Bay.
