In October 2011, in Moscow, in the shopping and entertainment complex "RIO", the first and largest Oceanarium in Moscow opened.
Project creators
Muscovites owe the appearance of this remarkable complex on Moscow land to the Tashir group of companies, which occupies the thirtieth place according to Forbs. The company acted as investors in the Oceanarium on Dmitrovskoye Shosse, which very successfully fit into the premises of the RIO shopping center. By the way, he also belongs to Tashir.
The designer and chief contractor for the construction was Aqua Logo Engineering LLC. As a result of fruitful joint work of designers, designers, constructors, biologists and workers, it was possible in just a year to realize the dream of many exotic lovers. Dozens of aquariums, pools, terrariums, aviaries have created ideal conditions for their inhabitants. Moreover, corners of nature are simulated here, from the Arctic seas to the hot tropics. Most importantly, the specialists of Aqua Logo Engineering did not just create an original design: they thought down the convenience and safety of animals to the smallest detail.
about the project
In the Oceanarium, very original and interesting solutions of talented designers are implemented: glass floors, with aquariums under them and a bottomless starry sky. At 5D Cinema, visitors can experience the breath of the ocean breeze and the delicate smells of the sea. In the open-air pools, seals and seals perform, who were specially trained in mastery at the Anapa Dolphinarium. Animals, plants and their delivery from the Antarctic, Australia, the Caribbean and the Barents Seas cost the creators of the complex 20 million rubles, and the entire Oceanarium cost 18 million dollars. At the same time, 500 people can visit this miracle.
Exposition Description
The territory of the Oceanarium is divided into several thematic zones:
- "Jungle".
- "Lagoon".
- "Amazon".
- "Seals".
- "Ocean".
- "Tropics".
- "Cave".
Acquaintance with the Oceanarium begins with the polar zone, where penguins live in aviaries.
In the tropic zone, Malawian cichlids settled. Near them, birds of paradise, monkeys, parrots feel quite comfortable.
No one will remain indifferent when they see the coral reefs that are found only in some areas of the Red Sea. Corals of the most bizarre shapes and colors, car bodies, angelfish, bright yellow zebrasomes and other mysterious inhabitants of the underwater depths will delight not only children, but also adults.
"Amazon"
In this outdoor river basin you can admire representatives of South America. These are Arovan, pacu-friendly, motley astronotuses. The most predatory inhabitants of the Amazon are piranhas. They are kept in a separate aquarium.
Mysterious caves
This section introduces you to the nocturnal marine inhabitants - Egyptian winged birds and Mexican blind fish.
Rare specimens
In the Oceanarium on Dmitrovskoye Shosse, many representatives of flora and fauna, unusual for Europeans, settled. Truly unique specimens live here, even for the natural environment: for example, the small fish anularis and coral sea anemone magnefica.
Excursions
Today, Moscow is the largest institution of this type in our country. The aquarium on Dmitrovsky is not the largest in Europe, but it is very beautiful and cozy. Visitors are very attracted by bridges with glass floors, especially areas where you can admire the living corals.
The city of Moscow amazes its guests with many attractions. Aquarium should definitely be visited! Educational excursions are regularly held here, so no one will leave with accumulated questions - a professional guide will answer all. Usually groups are designed for 10-15 people. It is very convenient for both guides and guests.
Most recently, many believed that in such a "non-sea" city like Moscow, a high-level aquarium is quite difficult to create. But this is a fallacy. According to experts, the Oceanarium turned out to be upscale.
Advice
The inhabitants of the Oceanarium are very shy, so the use of cameras with flash is strictly prohibited.
Penguin
Penguins attract special attention from visitors. These charming creatures feel quite comfortable here and seem to not notice prying eyes. Immediately I want to note the tremendous work that the organizers of this wonderful corner of nature did in a huge metropolis. One feels love and care for the “guests” of the capital, a desire to make their stay in a new place of residence as comfortable as possible.
Terrarium
There are a lot of inhabitants: crocodile caimans and turtles, monitor lizards and chameleons, snakes and a giant anaconda.
The RIO Oceanarium in Moscow has the main key element - an aquarium with a transparent tunnel. Its capacity is 412 thousand liters of water. It consists of two vaulted tunnels, completely transparent, made of high-strength acrylic. Thanks to this amazing design, visitors seem to be inside the underwater kingdom, and watch the life of its inhabitants from the inside.
The aquarium has a huge swimming pool with a spacious viewing room, which allows you to watch pinnipeds. All animals were delivered to the Oceanarium by Aqua Logo.
In addition to simply observing the marine life, the Oceanarium in Moscow (the photo of which you see in this article) provides its guests with a unique opportunity to see the feeding of predatory sharks and the performance of fur seals under the supervision of an experienced trainer. Such unique programs can not be seen in every complex in Europe. This Oceanarium in Moscow is the largest. The volume of its exposure is more than 500 tons of water.
Feeding
Many are interested in what they feed the marine inhabitants, especially foreign ones. It turns out that for each type of fish, food is prepared separately. Water is also prepared separately, and the most comfortable temperature is selected for each type.
It is interesting to observe the feeding of piranhas. It seems that peaceful and pretty “carassians”, in anticipation of feeding, calmly swim in their “home”. The technologist of the Oceanarium takes out a heavy piece of frozen fish from the refrigerator, throws it into the aquarium, but the audience only sees a slap: the food, having not time to sink to the bottom, disappears in the toothy mouths ... An eerie sight, believe me!
Sea water for the Oceanarium is prepared artificially. Over one million liters of water is consumed to fill all containers.
The Oceanarium has two venues for performances. One of them has an auditorium for watching shows of fur seals and seals. The second one does not have an auditorium: it is intended for feeding leopard sharks, hammer fish and other predators. Those who want to feed the fish can use the open areas of the pools, of course, if they do not have predators.
