Countries of the former USSR: the path after the collapse of the Union

The state of the USSR officially existed from December 30, 1922 to December 8, 1991, when the countries of the former USSR began an independent development path. For some of them, he was very difficult.

Republic of the USSR

The state included 15 republics. The formation of the territories of the Union took place gradually. The entire borders of the USSR, which existed at the time of the collapse of the state, were formed in 1940, when Soviet troops annexed the lands of Western Ukraine. We list the names of the republics: Ukraine (capital - Kiev), Russia (Moscow), Belarus (Minsk), Lithuania (Vilnius), Latvia (Riga), Estonia (Tallinn), Kazakhstan (Astana), Armenia (Yerevan), Azerbaijan (Baku) , Georgia (Tbilisi), Turkmenistan (Ashgabat), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), Tajikistan (Dushanbe), Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Moldova (Chisinau).

The geographical position of the republics

Tens of thousands of kilometers - it was all the vastness of a vast state that lasted more than 70 years. The climate of the republics is significantly different. The Baltic countries are located in a strip of temperate humid climate. Ukraine as well. In summer, the average temperature ranges from +25 ... + 27 degrees, in winter it is about 5 degrees below zero. If we take the countries of the former USSR, then Russia is most susceptible to cold weather, more precisely Siberia, the Arctic and the northern regions of the country. In the south (for example, in the Krasnodar Territory) the temperature in winter, and in summer too, is much higher than in the northern regions. The climate in most of the territory of Russia is sharply continental.

In the south-west of the former USSR, one of the smallest republics is located - Moldova. The southern countries, the former republics of the USSR, which are geographically located behind the Caucasus Mountains, are Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. Similar, but at the same time sharply contrasting, peoples live in them. In Central Asia there are such countries of the former USSR as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. The climate is dry and hot.

The development of the regions of the USSR after the collapse of the Union

After analyzing the geopolitical map, we see several groups formed. The countries of the former USSR today have different political orientations. The leading place is taken by the Customs Union, which includes Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. The Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) have long joined the European Union and NATO. Recently, European aspirations have been strong in Ukraine and Georgia. Azerbaijan is trying to stay apart, because countries from other regions, such as Turkey, are close to it. Armenia has always remained neutral, but gradually tends to resume cooperation with Russia. Turkmenistan today is not particularly active in world political life. Economically, this state is very rich due to the reserves of natural resources. Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are in a permanent crisis, therefore the level of their development is extremely low.

According to the level of economy of the republic of the USSR today, as in the days of the Union, they vary significantly. Of course, the most developed states are Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, the Baltic countries and, more recently, Georgia. Significantly lag behind the above countries of Central Asia.

Sporting success of individual republics

We can talk a lot about this, but dwell on football. The most famous football clubs of the Union were Spartak (Moscow), Dynamo (Kiev), Dynamo (Tbilisi), Dynamo (Moscow). It was the Spartacists and the Kievans who forever remained leaders in the number of victories in the USSR championship.
