The signal amplifier for the 3G modem makes it possible not only to significantly increase the speed of working with network resources, but also to provide a more stable signal. Sometimes the latter is even more important. It is difficult to argue with the fact that it is much more convenient to work with the Internet, which, although it provides not too high access speed, but does not lose the signal of the base station.
Ideally, of course, before using an amplifier for a modem, it would be nice to determine what exactly caused poor-quality operation of network equipment. This would allow us to choose a balanced solution that will provide an opportunity to best overcome the existing problem. - The device does not pick up a direct signal, but a signal reflected from terrain objects or buildings. Communication Improvement Solutions
Despite the abundance of proposals for optimizing the reception of a base station signal, they can all be conditionally divided into five groups:
- Use of an external antenna. It requires that the design of the modem used involves connecting an antenna adapter - the so-called pigtail. A person who knows how to accurately solder microelectronic circuits can independently connect the connector to the device, however, this affects the appearance.
- The use of an amplifier for modems of a special design that does not require any connectors (non-contact).
- Placement of the device in a sealed box and its removal to the roof or facade.
- Soldering the components of the device circuit.
- Amplifier for the modem of the active type.
The least effective solutions are the second and fourth. The most common use is an external pigtail antenna. The cost of additional equipment is relatively low, and installation and subsequent configuration can be easily performed independently. Given the different antenna gains, you can choose the best solution, showing optimal results in each case.
But the last point is unfamiliar to many, although the principle underlying the work of an active amplifier has been known for a long time, it has been successfully used in various industries. The scheme is as follows: an external antenna is placed on the facade of the building, which is oriented according to the direction to the base station; through a high-frequency cable with a wave impedance of 50 Ohms, the signal is fed to an amplifying device - a 3G repeater (repeater). Its internal electronic circuits increase the intensity of the signal captured by the antenna and transmit via USB-cable or radio frequency to the computer. The disadvantages include the high cost of such a solution, almost 4 times the price of any of the remaining options.
