Oktyabryatsky badge: the history of the "stars"

Soviet citizens knew very well what the October badge was. But for modern youth, this concept is most often unfamiliar. In the article, we will talk in detail about this symbol.

What is the October badge. His appearance

In the Soviet Union, children 7-10 years old were admitted in October. This was the name of the members of the children's organization, whose task was to captivate the children with interesting activities and social life. Each member of this organization wore a special October badge. He was pinned to the left of his chest (at the heart) on a jacket, shirt, sweater, dress, school apron, jacket. Often October people wore badges not only at school, but also at home.

The matured guys from October were accepted into pioneers, and after that - into Komsomol members. All conscious schoolchildren tried to go this way — the Octobren — the pioneer — the Komsomolets — it was very honorable.

The story of the famous star

october symbol

The first units of elementary school students appeared in 1923. Then the Soviet artist Parkhomenko created a sketch of the October icon. It looked like a five-pointed star of ruby color, inside on a white background - the image of the little curly Volodya (Lenin). The sketch was so successful that the evolution of the Oktyabryan badge did not take place: after 25, and after 35, and after 55 years, it looked the same.

The only change was made by Lithuanian artists: they added a shamrock between the rays of the stars and an inscription around the photo in Lithuanian - “The October Revolution - Lenin’s Grandchildren”.

In total, two types of badges were produced: metal (stamped, launched into mass production) and plastic (exclusive badges, which were rare even in the USSR).

"Grandchild Ilyich", or Who had the right to wear this badge

evolution of the october symbol

Now many argue about the appropriateness of this organization, criticize its ideological implications, and say that the communist-Bolshevik philosophy of life was imposed on children. But it is impossible to dispute the fact that children were taught to be honest, courageous, responsible, hardworking, to love their homeland. This is evidenced by the mottos. Only the guys “truthful and bold, clever, skillful”, those who “play and sing together, live happily” had the right to wear the October badge.

"Grandchild Ilyich" was taught by heart the rules of the October Revolution, which consisted of several quatrains. Each began with the following words:

  • " We are active guys ...";
  • " We are brave guys ...";
  • "We are diligent guys ...";
  • " We are true guys ...";
  • " We are funny guys ..."

Today they would say that October was a certain state brand, in the development of which the Soviets invested enormously in order to raise a worthy young generation.
