Masquerade clothes are often made with their own hands, complementing the standard images with unusual details. Sometimes this is the main joy of the outfit - the opportunity to feel like a creator.
It’s easy to make a cloud suit with your own hands, but first you need to decide on the image and materials. The outfit of the cloud can be made in several ways.
Volumetric cloud, synthetic winterizer
This costume resembles a real cloud in its outlines. Make it as follows:
1. A simple shirt with a wide neck and sleeves to the middle of the forearms is sewn from any fabric of blue or gray color.
2. Stripes of different widths are cut from a thick synthetic winterizer. Each is twisted into a tight, but not too tight roller, the ends of which are connected and sewn to the shirt in this form. Sintepon details must be of different sizes and positioned asymmetrically, creating the effect of "natural chaos".
The color also has a synthetic winterizer color. In textile stores you can find snow white or gray material. The corresponding color will be the cloud. And to create a "thundercloud", a synthetic winterizer can be painted by soaking in water with ordinary ink or gouache.
All other details of the costume (shoes, trousers or tights) can be completely ordinary, but under the color of the sky - white, gray or blue. A wide bezel with a pattern of clouds is used as a headdress.
Cape Outfit
Costume "Cloud" in the form of a wrap can be made in a few hours. To do this, a “sun” or “half-sun” is cut out of a fabric of suitable color. The edges are hemmed, a lace or a clasp is sewn into the neck. The cloak falls in beautiful folds, but in order for others to guess that it is a cloud suit, it is necessary to decorate it with applications. As a decor, a stylized image of a cloud, snowflakes, water drop can be used. The pattern is cut out of the fabric and attached to the cape using an adhesive gossamer.
The headpiece in this type of costume looks like a hoop with a small volume cloud. The latter is done as follows:
- 2 "clouds" are cut from the synthetic winterizer, which are stitched along the edge and turned out.
- The part is stitched along the contour, departing from the edge by 1-2 cm.
- The cloud is painted with gouache or diluted ink and attached to the rim.
The Cloud suit can be complicated by picking up the bottom edge of the cape, forming large folds. The resulting “tulip” type hoodie looks more interesting than just a raincoat with drops.
Cloud pack
An outfit option that can be made on the basis of an ordinary dress or skirt, coupled with a white or gray t-shirt. The most magnificent fluffy skirt is sewn from white or gray tulle, which turns clothes into a ballet tutu.
The “Cloud in a pack” suit, in addition to a headdress with a cloud-shaped overlay, can be decorated as follows:
- Plastic beads or beads are strung on long (40-50 cm) threads, the ends of which are sewn to the belt.
- So that the imitation of raindrops does not get tangled, they are attached to the transverse thread 10-15 cm from the belt.
- The ends of threads hanging from a fluffy skirt end with larger beads or "drops" cut from cardboard.
Other parts of the costume can be decorated with imitation of rain, including shoes and a hat, as well as hair and hands.
Cloud suit with hat
A model that requires more time and certain skills in needlework. The main highlight of the outfit is the hat turned into a cloud, and the more fields it has, the better.
As a basis for creating a “cloud-hat”, any similar headdress can be used, even with the fields set up. A cloud is made according to the following rules:
- The lower part should be smooth and therefore glued first with paper, and then with a white, gray or blue fabric.
- The top of the hat is covered with waves of medical cotton wool (white or gray), completely hiding the height difference between the fields and tulle. As an adhesive, you can use the glue "Moment" or PVA.
- The edge of the fields is decorated with transparent beads that imitate raindrops.
In this version, a cloud suit for an adult will look very attractive. With their own hands, only a hat is made. Another part of the costume is a white, gray or other “heavenly” colors dress and matching shoes. Threads of "rain" can be made longer or put on clothes by appropriating the nickname "Lord of the clouds."
Decorative elements for a suit
New Year's matinees and costume evenings often turn into a show where someone’s craftsmanship is demonstrated. Many complement the usual cloud suit with original decor or masterly use improvised materials. Among the curious notions include the following:
- A voluminous cloud on a hat made of white balloons. They are collected into the workpiece using adhesive tape, covered with a large amount of PVA glue, on top of which ordinary toilet paper is applied. After drying, the "cloud" is covered with pieces of medical cotton wool.
- A large number of half beads of any shape for decorating a costume can be obtained with a glue gun. The cooled figures are covered with nail polish of any convenient color.
- Umbrella in the form of a cloud. Medical cotton wool is glued to the dome, after which it is decorated with stars, rainbows and beads.
An adult or children's cloud suit can be of any kind. Human imagination is inexhaustible and often the form and decor of the outfit changes during the manufacturing process to better match the person, his age, type of figure, mood and understanding of the holiday.
