Here, on the banks of the Akhtuba River, there is a wonderful “Veterok” refreshing in summer and warming in winter - a camp site that hospitably welcomes guests year-round. Location
"Veterok" is a camp site located near the village of Kalinina, in the Sredneahtubinsky district of the Volgograd region. It is only 14 km from Srednyaya Akhtuba, 26 km from the town of Volzhsky and 43 km from Volgograd. You can get here by public transport. A shuttle bus (on weekdays) and minibus No. 111 go from Volzhsky to the village of Kalinina 3 times a day. You need to leave on the sign with the name of the camp site. From this place you will have to walk about 40 minutes.
If you go by car to the camp site, you need to follow the highway to Srednyaya Akhtuba, call in the village, then, without crossing the bridge over the river, turn right in the direction of the Kalinina village. From it leads the only road directly to the camp site.
Territory, infrastructure
"Veterok" is a camp site located in a virgin deciduous coniferous forest. On its rather spacious territory there are a lot of greenery, flowers, convenient paths are laid everywhere, there is a parking lot, equipped places for recreation by large companies, where you can cook kebabs and places for children to play with your own hands. Especially pleasing to both kids and adults is the small zoo in which ostriches, burros, guinea fowls and some other animals live. For active people who love to play sports, the Veterok camp site (Middle Akhtuba) provides volleyball, basketball courts, a place for playing badminton and a hall with billiard and tennis tables. For lovers of beach holidays, literally 30-50 meters from the camp site there is a beach with a sand cover, a gentle entry into the river and clear water. Resting "Veterka" can relax in the sauna, and in the evening to pour out energy on the dance floor. In addition, the base has conditions for paintball.
Number of rooms
Veterok is a hostel where you can find a wide variety of accommodation options. Among them:
- Summer panel houses. These are two-story buildings (the second floor of the attic type), designed to accommodate from 4 to 10 people. The rooms have a minimal set of furniture (beds with armored nets and / or wooden), a table, chairs, bedside tables for things. Facilities are located within 20-30 meters. An external metal staircase leads to the attic floor. Each house has a small open veranda.
- Category 2 summer houses. These are one-story buildings designed for 4 vacationers. These houses have a minimal set of furniture plus air conditioning. Facilities within 20-30 meters on site.
Chalet "Veterok" (Middle Akhtuba) in its room stock has chic rooms for year-round use. Among them:
- Luxury houses. These are wooden one-story buildings designed to accommodate 3 or 8 people. Layout - a salon with upholstered furniture (a sofa can be expanded), a bedroom with beds or a sofa bed, a kitchen, a hygiene room, where there is a toilet, washbasin and shower. All suites are equipped with a TV, fridge, split system, kitchen equipment and utensils. A separate deluxe room is located in the sauna building.
- Hotel. This is a detached one-story building with a rather unusual design and a VIP class. There are only 3 double rooms, and in addition, a modern conference room equipped with the latest technology (30 seats), a billiard room and a kitchen. The hotel can accommodate from 6 to 10 people. All rooms are individually designed. Each has an excellent set of furniture (upholstered, bedroom, wardrobe, bedside tables, chest of drawers, table, chairs), TV, split system, air conditioning.
Nutrition
Chalet Veterok (Akhtuba) can offer its guests comprehensive meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at a price of 450 rubles per day per person or meals on a custom menu (come, choose, order, pay) in a summer cafe and restaurant, called the "House of the Hunter". There are facilities for banquets and special occasions. Also, for special occasions at the base you can rent a dining room (up to 100 people) and an outdoor area (up to 200 people). The restaurant, it is also a banquet hall, is decorated with stuffed animals, equipped with a fireplace and a business meeting area.
Additional Information
Chalet "Veterok" is great for a long vacation (from one week) and for relaxing on weekends and holidays. Children under 5 years old are not charged if they are not provided with a separate bed. For children under 14 years of age, payment is 50%. Children over 14 years old must provide a passport to stay at the camp site. In separate houses, pets are allowed, provided that they have the relevant documents. Camp "Veterok" room prices set stable, not changing from the season. The cost for a room in a house of category 3 is 250 rubles per person per day, category 2 - 1500 rubles for the whole house, in luxury houses - from 3000 rubles per room per day, in a suite with a sauna - from 2000 rubles per day per room.

This camp site is popular for more than one year. But her excellent work directly depends on the professionalism and integrity of the staff. So, in 2011-2012, reviews about the rest in Veterka were only enthusiastic, which cannot be said about the reviews of tourists for 2013-2014. The staff changed at the camp site, and many comments appeared immediately. Among them:
- untidy territory, a lot of hornet's nests, even in a children's game town;
- groomed beach;
- poor-quality bedding (old, unsuitable for the size of the beds);
- inhospitable and dishonesty of employees.
In 2015, part of the staff changed again, and there were fewer negative reviews, but some problems remained. Vacationers noted the following disadvantages:
