Under the Soviet Union, many mass, collective movements were organized. One of them was the movement of the drummers. We'll figure out where they came from and who they were.
How drummers appeared and who they were
In the mid-1920s, the USSR government headed for the industrialization of the country. The management needed new enterprises, factories and plants. The country was to develop in the technical, economic and industrial sphere.
It was at this time that the first drummers appeared. These people can be called true patriots. They enthusiastically and with great zeal worked for the good of their homeland, not sparing themselves, overfulfilling production standards many times. They had important goals: to increase labor productivity, to eliminate absenteeism and injuries. Such people were set as an example to others, newspapers wrote about them, they were respected, they were invited to party congresses and meetings.
Soon, shock groups and brigades began to form. Such zeal on the part of the leadership did not remain without attention. Active drummers at work were awarded. And those who stood out were awarded diplomas and solid government prizes. Someone was even given the badge “Drummer of Communist Labor”.
Later, even entire factories and enterprises began to arrange real competitions among themselves.
Some famous drummers
Stakhanov Alexey Grigoryevich - the whole movement of percussionists and hard workers is named after this person. He was a miner. He set a record for coal mining, exceeding the norm by more than 10 times. Six months later, he broke his first record 2 times, extracting more than 200 tons of raw materials per shift.
Krivonos Petr Fedorovich - worked as a locomotive engineer. He forced the boiler, as a result of which the speed of the engine increased by 2 times.
Angelina Praskovya Nikitichna - a woman tractor driver. Repeatedly overfulfilled the plan. It was a national symbol of a technically educated worker of the USSR.
Mazay Makar Nikitovich - an innovative steelmaker. He upgraded the furnace, increased the speed of steelmaking. He set several records for steel removal.
Communist Labor Drummer Badge
At the end of the five-year period, the best workers were awarded the “Drummer of Communist Labor” badge. In Soviet times, it was considered very prestigious to receive such an award. Together with the badge, a certificate and a commemorative gift were presented.
A record of delivery must be entered in the workbook of the famous employee.
Today, more recently, such an award gave the right to receive the title "Veteran of Labor".
Types of awards for workers
Let us consider in more detail the issue of the "Drummer of Communist Labor" icon. His varieties were as follows:
- “Drummer of the 9th Five-Year Plan”;
- “Drummer of the Five Five-Year Plan”;
- “Drummer of the 11th Five-Year Plan”;
- "Drummer 12 of the five-year period."
Often you can see the "Drummer of Communist Labor" badge without information about the five-year plan. Such icons were very different in appearance, shape, color. They were united only by the inscription and image of Lenin. In the background there were drawings of a combine, tractor, construction site, sickle and hammer.
On the back of each icon was stamped or engraved - a special sign of the manufacturer. Depending on the year of manufacture and the plant itself, the label was different in both appearance and size.
Who relied on such badges
As already mentioned, to everyone who excelled at work. They were collective farmers, workers of state farms, engineers, teachers, designers, miners, researchers, workers of enterprises and agricultural production — all of them received the “Drummer of Communist Labor” badge. The description of these awards was different.
Different categories of workers received different awards. There were special awards for livestock specialists, railway workers, police officers.
For all the time that communism was created and built, in the USSR more than 23 million percussionists were noted. All of them were awarded honorary badges.
