A small resort village of the urban type Partenit is located a bit east of the slope of the legendary Ayu-Dag mountain. Sometimes it is called Bear Mountain. The unusual name of the village comes from the Greek word "parthenos", which translates as "virgin". In these places is a magnificent modern park Aivazovsky. It is located on the territory of the Aivazovskoye sanatorium complex, on the slopes of the Kuchuk-Lambada Bay amphitheater. The park is constantly evolving, combining a variety of styles and trends of the world landscape art.
Partenit Village
This village occupies a small territory near Ayu-Dag Mountain. It is part of the city district of Alushta. Located at a distance of 59 km from Simferopol. The population is about 9 thousand people. On this land there is a mountain that is surrounded by numerous legends and a magnificent park. There were A. Griboedov, A. Pushkin, I. Aivazovsky.
Despite the long history, the resort is quite a young village - it is no more than 30 years old.
Park history
Aivazovsky Park (Crimea) has its history since the mid 60-ies of the last century. Previously, vineyards were broken down in sunlit territory. Even at that time the place was called paradise. But after the transformation of the park, which took place in 2003, its popularity has increased significantly. And today this amazing corner of the Crimea continues to develop.
Description of the park
Today, many tourists visit the village of Partenit. Aivazovsky Park must be included in their excursion program. This magnificent complex does not have a single compositional space; it is divided into several separate zones.
On the slopes of the mountains are large areas planted with plants, a decorative garden with a mountain terrace (rockery). You can go down the slopes to the coast along the paths - special walking paths. On the Black Sea is a boat station, promenade and coastal recreation area.
The natural flow of water was skillfully turned into a cascading mountain stream. Artificial thresholds are created here. Places that are prone to landslides are seeded with rocks of special plants that block this process.
Vegetation
On an area of ββ25 hectares, more than 300 species of plants have been planted - 40 thousand shrubs and 15 thousand trees. Aivazovsky Park has a characteristic feature - all the trees are planted with wide groves.
Among tropical and subtropical plants (more than 150 species) you can see Atlas cedars, very rare for the Crimea, lanceolate cunningamia, large-flowered magnolia, cork oaks. There are a lot of palm trees in the park; you can visit cactus greenhouses.
Terraced Gardens
Experts say that the highlight of the park is the combination of different landscape design directions in one space.
The English garden is an uneven terrain, winding paths, forest and field perennials.

The antique garden is decorated with sculptures of the corresponding era, amphora. Here everyone who came to Partenit (Aivazovsky Park) will certainly be interested in a white rotunda brought from Italy. This is a round arbor with a domed roof and columns. It is famous for its acoustics, which amplifies the sound many times.
Terraced gardens bloom from early spring to late autumn. In early July and August, hydrangea bushes, lavender, sage, marjoram, juniper, fotinia and other landscape gardening plants fragrant in the park.
Olive grove
Aivazovsky Park is famous for its main grove - olive. Her age is more than two hundred years. In the distant XIX century, it belonged to M.N. Raevsky, who owned Partenit.
It is the basis of the exposition, which is associated with the colonization of Crimea by the Greeks, because it is no secret that many associate olive with the Mediterranean. There is a version that in ancient times there was a manor of the ancient Greeks at this place. The compositional axis of this corner of the park was a stream crossing a grove.

Central staircase

Motorists can get this way: from the Alushta-Yalta highway, turn along the Partenit sign. You will find yourself at the crossroads of three roads, two of them turn right and one turn left.
