Historically, Novospassky Bridge is the oldest of Moscow bridges. By age, only Borodinsky can equal him. History
Initially, the bridge was wooden and served to connect the banks of the Moscow River. Novospassky Bridge was used to move large flows of people, horse-drawn carts, which were sent to the nearby Novospassky Monastery. It was his name that passed to the bridge. By the way, the monastery is still operating today, and a very beautiful view opens from the bridge.
The bridge was rebuilt many times. The stone version was erected in 1911. In 1937 it underwent reconstruction, it can be said that it was rebuilt. From the former there were only supports. The bridge was raised to increase shipping dimensions. The length of the bridge after the reconstruction became half a kilometer, the width is 21 meters. The wood flooring was replaced with asphalt. The bridge is intended for vehicles, and for pedestrians only the section passing directly through the Moscow River is intended.
Since then, serious changes and changes in the architecture of the Novospassky bridge did not occur until 2000, when its design was improved.

Therefore, having thought of a walk and choosing “Novospassky bridge” (berth) for landing, it is better to know the departure schedule of the vessel of interest to you in advance, especially since there are a lot of them here, and it is easy to miss the necessary one, observing the mooring and departing ships of different sizes. On weekdays, ships leave after about 40 minutes, on weekends - after 20.
Often, on the way to the pier, guests are met by representatives of shipping companies who specify the purpose of your arrival at the place, agitate for a river walk and instruct where and when the boat will be boarded.

One of them is the Novospassky Monastery - a place that you can admire both from the bridge and from the side of the river, and even better - wander through its territory, go to temples. An interesting view opens up on the Krutitsky Patriarchal Compound, on the territory of which the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located. Its domes are visible from behind the trees. The house of music, green areas spread along the embankments - all this beauty can be seen from the side of a pleasure boat or from the Novospassky bridge.
By the way, a plate with the words "New Spassky" through a hyphen can be considered an interesting attraction. In other sources, this does not occur.

How to get there
You can get to the Novospassky Bridge pier by metro, reaching the Proletarskaya station. From here, 10-15 minutes walk (700 meters) - and you are at your destination. You need to exit the subway in the direction of 3rd Krutitsky Lane, to Krutitsky Val, Novospassky Monastery. The landmarks can serve as monastic domes, and then the bridge itself will become visible. The pier is located on the right side, opposite the monastery. From the pier to the subway is even easier to reach. You will surely be led out by a stream of people moving along the street. It must be remembered that the monastery should always remain on the right hand when moving to the bridge. Accordingly, in the opposite direction - on the left. You can go one stop on the 35th or 38th tram.
