Today you will not surprise anyone with a mobile phone with a touch screen - it has become a common occurrence in the modern world. But only fifteen years ago, one could only dream of such a technology. Want to know when the first touchscreen phone appeared, and what was it like?
The advent of mobile phones
The idea of ββcreating such a device arose in 1947, and it was put into practice ten years later by the Soviet radio engineer Leonid Ivanovich Kupriyanovich. This device was called LK-1 and it weighed three kilograms. Just a year later, the weight of the device dropped to half a kilo. And in 1961, the mobile phone could fit in the palm of your hand and weighed 70 grams.
In 1973, Motorola launched a prototype cell phone called the Motorola DynaTAC. It weighed a little more than a kilogram and had twelve keys on the front panel. In talk mode, the phone could work for about one hour, and in standby mode - up to eight. Recharging lasted more than ten hours.
First touch phone
In 1998, the Japanese company Sharp created the first touchscreen phone - PMC-1 Smart-phone. In addition to the innovative screen, there was practically nothing special about it. Therefore, the main purpose of its creation - competition with the Nokia 9000 communicator - was never achieved.
In the same year, Alcatel One Touch COM was released. It is with him, oddly enough, that the history of touch phones begins.
Both of these devices were not widely used, so soon both themselves and the touch control technology were forgotten.
The next touchscreen phone was the Ericsson R380. He was the first attempt to create a smartphone with touch controls. He had a small monochrome screen with a resolution of 360x120. In addition, his management was severely limited, since it was not possible to install additional programs.
In 2002, the NTS company released the first full-fledged smartphone with a touch screen - QTek 1010/02 XDA. Its display was already quite impressive at that time - 3.5 inches, plus maintaining 4096 colors. The smartphone was running the Windows Mobile 2002 operating system.
Nokia's first touchscreen phone
In 2003, the famous Finnish brand announced its first touch-screen telephone, the Nokia 7700. However, the release of the model to the market was postponed several times, and ultimately consumers did not wait for it. Instead, "Nokia 7700" was immediately released "Nokia 7710".
A new page in the development of phones
In 2007, the mobile industry turned over Apple's iPhone product. This is the first touchscreen phone that supports two new functions at once: finger control and multitouch, that is, touching in several places at the same time. Also this year, HTC Touch came out, which was also very popular due to the special TouchFLO technology and the lack of edges at the edges of the screen, which prevented access to some elements.
The future of the mobile industry
It is hard to believe that the history of the development of cell phones goes back more than fifty years. For all this time, the mobile industry has gone through many stages of its formation. And although the first touch phones appeared relatively recently, progress does not stand still. Soon, this technology will be replaced by a more modern and convenient, for example, voice or holographic control.
