After reading this article, you can make a beautiful dog mask on your own, which can be worn at a carnival or a children's party. You will learn several manufacturing methods - from paper, felt and polymer clay. So let's get started.
Paper mask of a dog on his head
To make such a mask is quite simple. You will need thick colored paper or cardboard, glue, scissors. If there is no colored paper, then you can take a simple one and decorate it later with paints, felt-tip pens or pencils. You can use the template that you see below.
First, cut the silhouette of the face out of brown cardboard. Then from pink make a triangular nose and mouth. Make cuts for the eyes. Make eyebrows out of black cardboard. Glue all the parts together. Cardboard dog mask is ready! Now all you have to do is sew or glue the elastic band for fastening on the head.
There may be many options for making such a mask. In addition, you can make a volumetric muzzle if you make it from triangles, which you then glue.
DIY felt dog mask
For the manufacture of masks, it is better to buy a thick and dense felt, as such material will wrinkle less and sit on your head better. You can use the template shown above, or draw your own, for example, as in the picture below.
First, cut the dog’s face out of brown felt. You can immediately notice the edges so that they become stronger. Make large cuts for the eyes. Then, from beige felt, make spots around the eyes (this way you emphasize the look). Then embroider the nose with brown threads or also make it from felt. It is worth noting that the mask itself is best made from thick and dense felt, eyes and nose can be made from thin. Sew an elastic band or two cords on the wrong side to secure the mask to the head. The dog mask made of felt is ready! If desired, you can make bangs on the head of faux fur.
How to make a polymer clay dog mask
To make a dog mask made of polymer clay is much more difficult and more expensive than paper or felt. But the result is worth it. First make a papier-mâché muzzle shape. The shape should be thick enough so that it does not sell when sculpted. Then take the clay and roll it into a thin pancake with a thickness of not more than four millimeters. Attach the resulting layer to a papier-mâché mold and smooth. Clay should sit tightly on a papier-mâché mask. If somewhere the layer is torn, then patch up the resulting holes with plastic. Make amends for any bumps. At this point, also texture the wool with a toothpick or awl. Tint the mask with clay powder, dry pastel or eye shadow. Make holes on the sides. Place it in the oven for half an hour or an hour. Take out the mask and let it cool. Now, if you wish, you can paint the mask with paints (it is better to take acrylic).

Rinse the product, sand the bumps, if any. Tie a rope or elastic to the holes. The dog mask is ready! If you wish, you can supplement it with faux fur.
