St. Petersburg is considered the Northern Capital, but the branching of the local metro is much inferior to Moscow. But its stations practically do not differ in uniqueness and beauty. It’s enough to drive along at least one of the subway lines.

There are only 5 lines in the St. Petersburg subway. Their official names are used more often in travel booklets and city guides. Citizens call the metro line by numbers. So the purple metro line in St. Petersburg sounds more familiar as the β€œFifth Line” or β€œLine No. 5”.

She connected the Primorsky northwest of the city, through the central part with the southeastern Frunze district. By 2018, 12 stations are located on this line:

This is the extension of the line in a southerly direction, and the plans of the metro leadership are to build four more stations in a northerly direction.

According to official names, not everyone remembers and is guided. This is the Frunzensko-Primorskaya line and, if it is interesting, what is the name of the purple metro line in St. Petersburg, then you need to buy a subway map or a city map. And what is interesting, the Frunzenskaya and Primorskaya stations are on other branches. And in the name of this involved the names of the districts connected by the Fifth Line.

Technical details of the line

The beginning of full operation is considered to be December 2008. Prior to this, since December 1991, only the northern stations connected to the Right-Bank branch (Chevertaya Line) participated in the transportation of passenger traffic.

The total length of the Frunze-Primorsky line is 18.1 kilometers, and with three new stations it will increase to 20.1 kilometers. Trains run at intervals of 2 to 10 minutes. And the operation mode of all stations is approximately the same: 05:30 - 00:00. And only on holidays can it change.

And it is here that the station of the deepest occurrence in Russia is located. This is the Admiralteyskaya located at a depth of 102 meters. It belongs to the purple metro line in St. Petersburg.
