If you want to make a cute basket of ordinary newsprint with your own hands, then prepare the necessary material, and - for work. Weaving newspaper baskets - The activity is very simple and very exciting.
For work we will need: newspaper, cardboard, glue, scissors, acrylic paints or varnish, knitting needle, protective gloves, brushes, a clean cloth and a dish for the shape of the future basket.
Weaving basket newspaper tubes
Weaving a product consists of several stages:
1. Cut along the newspaper or magazine into strips 6-8 cm wide. Let's make a lot of them.
2. We wind a piece of newspaper onto the knitting needle as shown below in the figure. We begin to wind from one end of the knitting needle to the other.
3. Lubricate the corner of the tube with glue, cut off the excess. Gently glue the end of the newspaper strip and pull the needle out of it. Put the blank on a clean napkin, and in the meantime we ourselves will make the next tube in the same way. In their manufacture, it is necessary to ensure that they are thin and the ends have different thicknesses (so that the end of one tube can enter the other).
4. Spiral weaving from newspaper tubes
We put our "vine" as shown in the figure below, and begin weaving baskets from newspaper tubes.
We put a bent tube on top of the bottom, then we pass through the bottom of the next lower one, braiding in a spiral spiral tube folded in a cross from above to below. If the length ends, you need to insert another tube into the free end and glue them together. In this way, we will weave the bottom of the future basket. The excess ends of the tubes that we braided, we will stretch between the woven tubes and glue to the bottom of the future basket around the perimeter. Then we put on the bottom blank the form for the basket (a bowl, a jug or something else) and we will continue weaving from the newspaper tubes of the basket (now its side part and its handle). To do this, take new tubes and stretch them along the perimeter of the bottom so that around it a fence is formed of newspaper tubes standing perpendicular to it. We braid this "fence" with newspaper tubes to the top of the basket. Except for four pieces of vertical tubes, we braid along the top of the basket and glue to it. We will make basket handles from the same four vertical ones. The finished basket can be painted with acrylics or varnished.
You can make it in another way. For the bottom, you can use two cardboard rectangles (square, circle or oval), one of them is slightly larger than the other. Paste them with thick paper. Lubricate the larger rectangle around the perimeter with glue and glue a lot of paper tubes to it, as shown in the figure below.
Glue a smaller rectangle on top. All glued tubules, except for the upper right, bend up and fix them. Bottom left we will weave from newspaper tubes of the basket in a spiral.
We will stretch the tube between the vertical tubes, on the one hand, then on the other. We extend the “vine” by pasting the next one to it. You can not lengthen all the time, and after it is completely woven, stick the end to the basket. Continue weaving with the next straw.
To make the tubes stick more firmly, you can use clothespins.
The finished product can be varnished or painted.
