Kirov is a small Russian city on the Vyatka River, located about 900 km northeast of the capital. It is a cultural, historical and scientific center of the Urals. There are many attractions and interesting places to visit: temples, museums, parks and theaters. Very popular among locals and visitors of the city is a water park, circus and contact zoo. Kirov can boast of three similar institutions, which will be described below.
What is a contact zoo?
This is a complex that contains domestic and wild animals. Its characteristic difference is the ability not only to feed the animals, but also to stroke them and pick them up. It is logical that the pets that inhabit the contact zoo (Kirov is no exception) are not dangerous. Direct communication with them does not threaten the health or life of visitors.
The complex itself, as a rule, is small, compact, located in a limited area (it can even be a corner in a shopping center). There are many mobile contact zoos that tour the country.
Call of the Jungle
This contact zoo (Kirov) is located in the Museum and Exhibition Center "Diorama" at the address: st. Gorky, 32. More than 70 species of various animals and birds are represented in this complex. Reptiles and monkeys, chameleons and chinchillas, scorpions and ferrets, porcupines and lemurs, birds with fabulous plumage and a huge rabbit live here. The pride of the zoo is the largest tortoise in Russia named Hercules. She is 88 years old, weighs 100 kg and patiently rolls babies on herself. Many liked the young raccoon-raccoon, while others liked amusing meerkat and cute sugar possum.
Zoo staff will tell a lot of interesting things about all the animals, and will conduct a tour.
"Diorama" (Kirov) is waiting for guests from Tuesday to Sunday from 10-00 to 17-30. Admission price for adults is 250 rubles, for children - 200 rubles, for students and senior citizens - 200 rubles. A package of pet food will cost only 30 rubles. If desired, both adults and children can take pictures with their pets as a keepsake. A photo costs 100 rubles.
Reviews of the Kirov Contact Zoo "Call of the Jungle" are mostly positive. Visitors note the cleanliness in the institution, the absence of an unpleasant smell, a healthy appearance of animals. The only negative of this complex is that there are always a lot of people. But this indirectly confirms the popularity of the zoo.
GRUNDORF
In 2015, a new contact zoo GRUNDORF opened in Kirov. Here visitors are waiting for an exotic llama and dwarf lambs, funny goats and domestic hens, forest hedgehogs and nimble squirrels, cute mini-pigs and fluffy rabbits. Local stars are the aristocratic cats Masya and Basya.
Animals are happy to make contact with visitors. Animals can be fed (with special food), stroked, hugged, you can take pictures with them.
The contact zoo (Kirov) is decorated in the style of an old German village, employees conduct mini-excursions during which they introduce guests to the habits and lifestyle of various animals and birds.
GRUNDORF is located on the 4th floor of the Central Department Store along 77 Vorovskogo Street. It works every day from 9-00 to 21-00, the price of an admission ticket is 250 rubles.
"Mokhnatiya"
This family-type contact zoo is the newest in Kirov. Opened only at the end of 2016. It is located at 79 Schorsa Street. The complex receives visitors daily from 10-00 to 20-00.
Today, there are most cats and dogs of various breeds: French bulldogs, dwarf pinchers, spaniels, Siberian cats and Persians. This zoo has been jokingly nicknamed the "Dog Village". In the near future, new, more exotic inhabitants will appear here.
The contact zoo is a great opportunity for children and adults to get a positive experience with animals, to become softer and kinder.
