After you have connected the individual parts of the product, they must be connected. To get this smoothly and accurately, you will need knowledge of the basic ways of stitching finished parts.
Before joining, the stitched parts of the knitted fabric from the wrong side should be steamed or ironed through a damp cloth. Then they should be dried and laid out face up, begin to sew using a sewing needle with a blunt tip, working from right to left. To make the knitted seam almost invisible, it is advisable to take a thread from the yarn that was used for knitting.
A horizontal knit stitch is used to connect the shoulder seams, hood seams . It happens with closed and open loops.
- Knitted stitch with closed loops. The needle is introduced into the loop, which is located on the upper canvas, above the closed loops. Then in the same way it must be introduced into the loop of the opposite canvas. After stitching a few centimeters, the thread should be tightened.
- Knitted stitch with open loops. Here, the loops of the last row in the details of the knitted product do not close. They are connected, picking up from the knitting needles, or previously knitting the last row with a contrasting auxiliary thread,
which they dissolve over and over again. The needle is inserted into the first loop of the knitted part and the next after it, after which the thread is pulled and the loop is thrown off. On the opposite part, they are picked up with a needle and the thread is pulled through the first loop, then they grab the next one, introducing the needle from below
up. These movements are repeated to the desired end of the seam, removing the stitched loops from the knitting needle.
A vertical knit stitch is used to connect the fabrics along the line of the sides, the lines of the slats. It is also used for raglans.
To make a vertical knitted seam of the fabrics connected by front stitching, it is necessary to put stitched knitted details side by side parallel to each other, face up. The needle captures the broach between the edge loop and the next loop, first on the right part, then on the left. Thus, it is necessary to repeat these steps alternately, without missing a single thread.
To keep the seam elastic, do not tighten the thread too tight. The vertical knitted seam of the canvases connected with the wrong side of the stitch is performed according to the same principle.
Two knitted fabrics can be connected in another way. It involves a vertical knit stitch with knitting needles. First, the first part of the fabric is knitted. Then
the second part joins the first during knitting of every second row: the
edge loop of the second fabric is knitted with the
edge loopfirst. This loop can be either front or back - optional.
Connect the parts of the product using a crochet hook. This method is used to assemble an uneven structure of the canvas, for example, openwork
mating. Also, this technique is used when processing armholes, necks and bottoms, if you need to loop around the edge. Having connected the canvas to each other, a hook is inserted through both layers under the edge loop, grab the thread and pull it through the loop on the hook.
