There are many opinions on the origin of the name of Lake Baltym. Some believe that its hydronym comes from the Turkic language "bol" - be and "tym" - quietly, which means "be quiet." However, scientists consider this opinion erroneous. If you pay attention to the correct spelling in this language, then only the root base is involved in this hypothesis. And the verb "to be" in the Tatar language sounds like a bull, and in Bashkir it sounds like a bull.
There is another variant of the origin of the name “Baltym”. It already has Russian roots. This statement says that the Slavic people, in order to simplify the dissonant forms, improved the pronunciation of “Baltsky” or “Baltysky” more consonant: “Baltymsky”.

Baltym is a lake located in the Sverdlovsk Region 3 km from Verkhnyaya Pyshma. This is a very beautiful and picturesque place that attracts tourists not only from Yekaterinburg and nearby cities, but also from all over the world.
The parameters of the lake are 4 kilometers long and 2.6 wide. The main bottom area is silty sediments. This factor greatly affects the transparency of water. Officially, the average depth is fixed at around 3-3.5 m. However, there are places where it reaches 5-6.5 m.
Baltym is a saucer-shaped lake, slightly elongated towards the south. On one part of the reservoir, the shores are entirely composed of mixed forests. Here you can meet such representatives of the plant world as fir, pine, spruce, birch. There are rocky shores and sandy beaches where the water is quite clear.
Coastline
On the south and north sides of the coast are completely covered with swamps and reed beds. From the east, there are sandy embankments on which beaches suitable for swimming are equipped. And abundant thickets of grass are observed along the entire coastline of the Baltim reservoir.
The lake (Yekaterinburg is 20 km) is of great interest to the local population. On its territory, namely, on the eastern side, there are a lot of different recreation centers for workers of the Uralmashzavod, Shakhtospetsmontazh and Uralelectrotyazhmash. In addition, there is a registered farm for lovers of hunting and fishing. In the southwest of the lake there are pioneer camps and motels. You can see the water station, which is located on the southeast coast, as well as the yacht club of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company.
Animal world
Baltym is a lake that is famous for a large number of diverse fish. Here live a chebak, ruff, silver crucian carp, bream, carp, roach, tench, perch, burbot, pike, goldfish. In the forests located on the shore of the reservoir, a lot of animals live, and predators are often found. Permanent residents of these places are lynx, wolf, wolverine, squirrel, elk. Above the surface of the water you can find a huge number of waterfowl. Some species of animals are listed in the Red Book.
Baltim Lake: recreation centers
There are a lot of recreation centers for vacationers, in which there are all conditions for a comfortable stay.
