Cape Verde, discovered by the Portuguese in the middle of the fifteenth century, is now called differently - in the original language. At the time of discovery, it was uninhabited, but now there are Creoles, who profess Catholicism and speak their own dialect. True, residents of tiny landmasses near Africa are well aware of French, English and Spanish, and Portuguese is official.

Cape Verde islands are easy to find on the map: this is an archipelago located at Cape Verde in Africa. To the mainland about 600 km eastward. The group includes a dozen small islands that form in plan something similar to a circle. Nine of them are inhabited and known among tourists.
The archipelago is located in the Atlantic Ocean. If you swim to the north from it and cover 1,500 km, you can get to the Canaries, which are approximately the same distance from Europe. Cape Verde is separated from other parts of the archipelago by straits 100-150 kilometers wide. The ocean in them is very worried, and sharks are teeming in the waters. Therefore, travelers are increasingly choosing the air way. Even between the islands of this state small modern airplanes fly. Daredevils, of course, can use the services of ferries, there are two of them in the state. But the trip to them will be long - up to several days, so holidaymakers from abroad do not want to spend precious time on the road.
Paradise for a tourist
The island of Cape Verde - and this is the name given to this corner of the planet, has wonderful opportunities for recreation. There is a very good sea - warm, clean, tender all year round. Very wide beaches with fine golden sand conquer at first sight. And exotic lovers will love the black beaches strewn with dark sand of volcanic origin.
Gourmet Cape Verdean will treat huge fish and seafood dishes. The portions on Cape Verde are also very large. The restaurants serve meat, although livestock husbandry is poorly developed due to adverse climatic conditions. But there are more than enough vegetables and fruits in the markets.
Mass tourism
There are very few visitors to the archipelago, although tourism is actively developing there: about thirty thousand people come here every year to stay in comfortable modern hotels (there are even four-star hotels). The institutions have swimming pools, a tour desk, a rental point for various vehicles, discos, diving centers. The service here is excellent, the staff is very polite. Therefore, Cape Verde may well compete with Turkey or Egypt.
Caboverdians are hospitable and polite, but they expect guests to observe the rules of decency. Here, in fact, you will not encounter a conflict of cultures, an exceptionally friendly atmosphere, better than at home.
Lunar landscape
But this paradise off the African coast is fraught with danger. Not from sharks, no. They rarely attack humans. There is a very bright and hot sun and a strong fresh wind. And although it seems that the heat is quite tolerable, you can sunbathe on the beaches very soon.
Cape Verde is a desert with a characteristic landscape (lunar) and only half of one island will be pleased with a small amount of greenery. The wet season here begins in August, and then the barren sands transform. Rains and hurricanes rage until October, and then the islets again turn into a desert.
