A finished knitted product looks neat only if a number of rules are correctly followed. Their list also includes the assembly of paintings. The choice of the necessary connecting seam directly depends on the thickness of the yarn and the pattern of the product.
Horizontal knit stitch ("loop in a loop")
Ideal for joining hosiery parts . Without breaking the structure of the material, it retains its elasticity. In order to prevent the loops from opening during work, the fabric lay freely, several rows of additional thread were knitted along its edge, and then steamed. Additional rows are dissolved before stitching.
We carry out a horizontal knit stitch in knitting:
- from the inside in the direction from bottom to top we introduce the needle into the 1st loop of the lower row;
- from the front to the wrong side, we direct the needle into the 1st loop of the upper row (from top to bottom), and bring it from bottom to top into the 2nd loop of the upper row;
- we introduce the needle from top to bottom from the front to the wrong side in the 1st loop of the lower row and bring up from the bottom up to the 2nd loop of the lower row;
- again, we introduce the tool from top to bottom in the 2nd loop of the upper row, and you need to output it to the next, adjacent loop, from bottom to top.
Next we sew in the same way.
The loops should be the same size as in the main fabric, do not tighten the thread - and get an invisible seam.
A horizontal knit stitch is good for assembling products connected with a 1 x 1 elastic band. And it is done this way: first only the front stitches are sewn on one side of the fabric, then it is turned inside out and the process is repeated.
A horizontal seam is also used to connect open longitudinal loops with edge loops of the transverse fabric (when sewing on sleeves). For this:
- the sleeve is pinned with pins to the product, combining the intended middle of the part with the shoulder seam;
- assembly must begin from the right edge on the front side;
- A needle is inserted into the open hinges of the sleeve and the arcs of the loop-main web following the edge ones are captured.
Vertical Knit Stitch
It is often called the "mattress." It is used, as a rule, to connect parts along the edges of a knitted fabric, performed on the front side. Before assembly, the product does not need to be chipped or swept away.
Each edge loop combines two knitted rows, two transverse threads come to it. It is necessary to stitch sequentially, connecting one row with another, without missing a single thread. Needle work from right to left. When stitching the fabric knitted with front loops, the needle is inserted from the bottom up under the first of these two transverse threads at the part on the right, then under the first of two threads at the loop of the left part. Then the needle is inserted under the second thread of the part loop on the right and also under the second thread at the edge loop of the part on the left.
In the case when the yarn is thick, or different loops fit to the seam on both sides, the needle must be inserted under the broach between the edge and adjacent loops alternately, then on the right, then on the left parts. Such a seam turns out to be a little flat and barely noticeable.
Knitted stitch in knitting. Tricks and secrets
When stitching products, it is recommended to use yarn to which the fabric is knitted. In the event that the threads were used fancy or with a long pile, it is necessary to choose the most suitable color option. It is better to start the seam with the remaining end of the thread, even if it is short: this will ensure an even and accurate edge of the product. In order not to attach the thread in parts (additional unnecessary knots will spoil the whole picture), its length should be 3.5 times longer than the width of the fabric on the spoke.
