No one is forgotten
The Mikhailovsky Museum has undergone many troubles. This is the February Revolution of 1918, when not one thousand manors of the Pskov region were ruthlessly burned. Among them, Trigorskoye, Petrovskoye, and Mikhailovskoye burned down. Only the small house of the nanny and the huge stone barn that Pushkin's son built were saved from the fire. In the years 1931-1934 in this protected area was a pig-breeding complex.
In the year of the centenary of the death of A. S. Pushkin (1937), the Mikhailovskoye Museum-Reserve was restored, but not for long, as the Great Patriotic War unleashed. The Germans captured the Pskov region, and the territory of the reserve was occupied. Part of the buildings of the village was completely destroyed, and part was disfigured, Mikhailovsky changed beyond recognition.

The history of restoration began in 1945, when Semyon Stepanovich Geychenko became the director of the museum-reserve.
He is an ascetic who has gone through the war, a great enthusiast and admirer of the great poet, in addition, he is a museum worker and a native of Peterhof. This man was to restore numerous buildings from the ruins, to eliminate the dugouts, to put in order parks and the surrounding area of ​​the reserve. S. S. Geychenko fulfilled his task brilliantly and even made sure that the territory of the historical museum-reserve began to look exactly the same as during the poet himself. He restored Trigorskoye, Mikhailovskoye, Petrovskoye, there were museums and the "Water Mill" in the village of Bugrovo, and the "Pushkin Village". Under him, the Assumption Monastery of Svyatogorsky was revived, which was given with great difficulty. This object caused special battles, and each time I had to prove that it was needed and important for posterity.
A.S. Pushkin is important for visitors to the reserve, and A.S. Pushkin and S.S. Geychenko are important for museum employees. There are legends about both of them.
Huge and invaluable contribution to the development of the museum S. S. Geychenko. His plans are being implemented until our time, the territory is expanding and the Museum Reserve is being transformed. Mikhailovsky is expanding, and in 1995 the estates Voskresenskoye and Golubovo were added. The ancient settlement Velje joined with the village of the same name.
