Museum-apartment of N. A. Nekrasov is a memorial museum of the writer in St. Petersburg, which is dedicated to the work and life of the poet and publisher. He lived in the apartment for the last 20 years of his life, and all these years there were editorial offices of magazines popular at that time: “Domestic Notes” and “Sovremennik”. The poet’s apartment was visited by L. Tolstoy, F. M. Dostoevsky, I. S. Turgenev, A. N. Ostrovsky. History
Nekrasov settled in an apartment on Liteiny Prospekt in 1857, his friend and co-editor for Sovremennik, Panayev I.I., rented an apartment next to them, N. A. Dobrolyubov, A. Kraevsky A., the publisher, lived opposite Domestic notes. "
In this house, the poet wrote his best works. This, in fact, was an editorial apartment, all the time Saltykov-Shchedrin M.E., Dobrolyubov N.A., Chernyshevsky N.G. spent all its time on it, it became especially crowded on Mondays (editorial office). Description
Through the efforts of workers in the museum, the living room, bedroom, poet’s office and the reception of the editorial office were restored. The rooms of the apartment - office, reception, hall, bedroom, dining room were restored according to the memoirs of some contemporaries and according to old drawings. The apartment contains personal belongings of the poet, draft manuscripts of his works, portraits of his friends, paintings. Nekrasov was very interested in hunting, so his hunting accessories and even stuffed bear and birds were preserved in the apartment.
In the "Panaevskaya half", the interiors of the living room and study are recreated. The exposition of Panayev’s office talks about his work and the work of the magazine. The living room exposition is dedicated to the issue of equal rights for women, which was sharply discussed on the pages of the journal Sovremennik. Numbers of magazines with works by Markovich M. A., Tsebrikova M. K., Panaeva A. Ya., Khvoshchinskaya N. D. are displayed in the cabinets. In the center of the room are copies of the manuscripts of Nekrasov’s poems “Frost, Red Nose”, “Russian Women”. The walls of the living room are decorated with paintings by Levitsky R. S., Stefanovsky I. P., which are dedicated to the image of a peasant woman.
In the rooms of Kraevsky’s apartment there is an exposition “Nekrasov and Modernity”, articles by critics, literary critics, and paintings by artists dedicated to the poet.
Museum-apartment of Nekrasov is, in essence, “three in one”: the poet’s apartment, the editorial office of the magazine Sovremennik, the apartment of Panayev.
Exhibitions
The exhibition part of the museum is approximately 600 m 2 , here are drafts of manuscripts, memorial items, autographs of the poet. The most interesting are the manuscripts of the poems “Frost, red nose”, “To whom it is good to live in Russia”.
Museum-apartment of Nekrasov in St. Petersburg is famous for the most interesting tales of the spectators. For example, the most popular among visitors is the story of the oldest employee of the museum about the history of writing the poem “Reflections at the front door”. The windows of the poet’s apartment overlook the main entrance of the house in which the official lived at that time. One morning, the poet saw a scene near this house that struck and inspired him to write this poetic work.
The museum has more than 4 thousand items of interior and everyday life, personal belongings and the creative heritage of the poet and his associates Kraevsky and Panayev. Only about 13 thousand memorial units.
The collection initially consisted of exhibits received as a gift from the poets Chibisova and Gorbatov, and exhibits from the Pushkin House.
Temporary expositions are presented in the rooms of Kraevsky - the work of 20th century artists, writers, literary critics. It organizes "creative evenings", meetings with writers, artists.
About 10 thousand people visit the museum annually.
