History

Nekrasov settled in an apartment on Liteiny Prospekt in 1857, his friend and co-editor for Sovremennik, Panayev I.I., rented an apartment next to them, N. A. Dobrolyubov, A. Kraevsky A., the publisher, lived opposite Domestic notes. "

In the "Panaevskaya half", the interiors of the living room and study are recreated. The exposition of Panayev’s office talks about his work and the work of the magazine. The living room exposition is dedicated to the issue of equal rights for women, which was sharply discussed on the pages of the journal Sovremennik. Numbers of magazines with works by Markovich M. A., Tsebrikova M. K., Panaeva A. Ya., Khvoshchinskaya N. D. are displayed in the cabinets. In the center of the room are copies of the manuscripts of Nekrasov’s poems “Frost, Red Nose”, “Russian Women”. The walls of the living room are decorated with paintings by Levitsky R. S., Stefanovsky I. P., which are dedicated to the image of a peasant woman.

In the rooms of Kraevsky’s apartment there is an exposition “Nekrasov and Modernity”, articles by critics, literary critics, and paintings by artists dedicated to the poet.
