Translated from Turkic - they are "beautiful lakes", and the Khakass claim that they are "girl's lakes." The legend tells of two girls, orphaned sisters, whom the stepmother hated. The girls decided that it would be better to drown, the further they would endure the stepmothers of bullying, and rushed into the river. The river has turned into two beautiful Kyzikul lakes.
