You can buy a box of any material, made in the most unusual design. But what could be better than a self-made little thing for storing important trifles and just memorable trinkets? If you attach a little imagination and labor, a cardboard box made by yourself will please you for many years. The cost of materials is minimal, but what is the result!
Making a blank
Creating a casket is a creative process. You can choose any shape: from banal rectangles to hearts and intricate shapes with a large number of angles. Decide on the size and draw the base. If you are afraid to make mistakes in calculations or you have a little cardboard, you can first make a paper template. The base needs to be cut twice - the second part will be the cover of the craft. The second stage is a bit more complicated - we will construct the walls. For any figure, they will be rectangles, but we must not forget about the allowance for gluing to the base. If you still do not know
how to make a box of cardboard, do not be afraid, everything is quite simple. For products with right angles, it is enough to bend a strip of wall with a width of not more than 1 cm. If you make a casket with a smooth contour, you need to cut the curved edge with equal teeth for gluing it with a bend. By a similar technology, you can make a side for the lid. When all the elements are cut, we glue everything with universal water-based glue and leave it to dry completely.
DIY cardboard box: decor
We got a nondescript blank, but our goal is an original decorative item. It's time to do the decoration. Color the box to your liking or cover with a cloth. Other design options are also possible: you can stick pieces of mosaic or make an application of individual pieces of fabric, wrapping paper or other materials. Foil or corrugated cardboard looks good. A handmade box made of cardboard can be completely pasted over with beads, shells or decorated with embroidery. If you choose the last option, you will have to embroider the pattern separately on the canvas, and the finished creation just needs to be glued. Remember to dye or trim the box inside. As additional decorations fit small figures (you can take from the children's "Kinder surprise"), artificial flowers or rhinestones.

Using the technology described above, you can decorate finished boxes or restore the caskets that have become unusable. The cover does not have to be removable, you can make it hinged.
