General Beloborodov, whose biography is described in this article, is Russian by nationality. He was a famous Soviet military leader. Twice he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. Afanasy Pavlantievich commanded the forty-third army, which liberated Vitebsk from the Germans. Participated in the assault on Koenigsberg. He rose to the rank of general of the Soviet Army. He was a member of the Communist Party since 1926.
A family
On January 18, 1903, in the Irkutsk province, in the village of Akinino (now Baklashi), the future general was born - Beloborodov Afanasy Pavantievich. His family was simple, peasant. Father is baptized like Palladium. But the neighbors renamed it to the more familiar to them - Pavlantius.
Therefore, Athanasius was recorded according to documents under this patronymic. Mother - Lina Konstantinovna. Father - Pavanty Dmitrievich. Athanasius was brought up in a large family. He was the youngest child. Had brothers and a sister.
Childhood
At ten years old Athanasius independently plowed the land, mowed the grass and went to the harvest. Passing cattle, he knew how to recognize edible mushrooms and went fishing. He tidied around the house, helping his mother, and studied with the neighboring kids.
Youth
Youth for Athanasius began with a partisan detachment, to which he joined at the age of sixteen in 1919. Although he did not stay in the detachment for long, he firmly decided that he would become a military man. In 1920, a partisan detachment joined the Red Army and was sent to the 8th Irkutsk Rifle Regiment of the first Chita Division. But soon Afanasy Pavlantievich fell seriously ill and was released home. In April 1920, he returned to his native village.
Education
In 1923 he entered the infantry school in Irkutsk. A year later, it was abolished, and Afanasy Pavlantievich was in the eleventh of Nizhny Novgorod. He graduated at the twenty-sixth. Return to military service
The future general Beloborodov returned to the Red Army only in 1923. From 1926 he was commander of a rifle platoon of the sixth Khabarovsk regiment in the Siberian Military District. Since 1936, the future General Beloborodov, whose photo is in this article, became an assistant to the chief, and then the direct head of the headquarters of the 66th division in the Far East. In 1940, he was in the position of corps commander. In 1941, he became the head of the combat training department on the Far Eastern Front. A few months later, in the same year, already in the rank of colonel, he commanded the 78th Infantry Division.
She was part of the sixteenth army, when the soldiers showed themselves heroically on the Western Front, in the Istrian direction. And the division for courage and excellent combat training was transformed into the Ninth Guards. This was a very rare case when in 3 weeks of hostilities the division so rose in its status.
The document on renaming it to the guards was personally signed by Stalin - People's Commissar of the Soviet Union. Joseph Vissarionovich noted courage, courage, heroism and perseverance of the whole composition. Separate special merits of Beloborodov were noted in the order. He received the rank of major general.
Then his division liberated Istra, and in January 1942 it was transferred to the Vyazemsky direction and became part of the forty-third army. Conducted military defensive operations on the South-Western Front, on the Seversky Donets.
Since October of the same year, General Afanasy Beloborodov took command of the 5th Guards Corps, which participated in battles on the Kalinin Front during the Velikoluks operation. And in 1943 he began to command the second corps, which participated in the battles in the Smolensk region and in the Nevel-City operation. And also in offensive battles in Belarus.
In 1944, Beloborodov, already in the post of lieutenant general, commanded the forty-third army. She broke through the enemy defenses during the Vitebsk-Orshan operation and forced the Northern Dvina. Together with the thirty-ninth army, the Vitebsk fascist group was defeated.
In the same year, General Beloborodov commanded the forty-third army in several operations: Mamelsky, Polotsk, Riga and Šiauliai. In 1945, he fought in East Prussia. He participated in three operations: Konigsberg, Insterburg and Zemland. Since 1945, Athanasius led the first Red Banner Army. He participated in the first Far Eastern front in the defeat of the Japanese army.
Beloborodov’s troops operated on the main front and in the very first days during the offensive broke through the well-fortified Mishansky and Duninsky districts. After that, the Soviet army, led by Afanasy Pavlantievich, launched an offensive at a rapid pace on Harbin. After his release, Beloborodov became the city commander of the garrison and the first Soviet commandant.
Post-war years
After the war ended, General Beloborodov A.P. commanded the first Red Banner Army in the Far East. Since 1946, the Fifth Guards Division in the Central Group of Forces came under his command, and in 1947 Athanasius led the thirty-ninth army in China. Car crash

Afanasy Pavantievich Beloborodov lived in Moscow. He died on the first of September of the ninetieth year. Unfortunately, the home of Athanasius Pavlantievich in Baklashi has not survived to this day. But fellow countrymen still remember him. And not only as a general, but also as a patron. After the war, Afanasy Pavlantievich more than once came to his native village and made a lot of efforts to restore it.
For example, the local dilapidated wooden school, thanks to the efforts of Beloborodov, was rebuilt into a brick one. In 2003, a memorial plaque was mounted in its facade, and the educational institution itself has long been named after the general.
