Home books appeared in the 18th century. They were compiled and maintained by private bailiffs of police stations in each part of the city and were referred to as administrative records. Already at that time, with the help of such a document, one or another person could be found.

The validity period of an extract is not formally determined and depends on the requirements of the particular organization to which it is provided. Usually it is from two weeks to one month.
