The Leningrad Region is rightfully considered the edge of the blue lakes: Ladoga, Onega, White - they are widely heard. But there are also water bodies that few have heard of. But the one who visited them at least once was very pleased. Among these is Vysokinsky Lake - the pearl of the Leningrad Region. An amazing place where, having been once, I want to return.
What is in your name?
Vysokinsky got its name, because it seems as if it rises above the Gulf of Finland. Although this is a visual hoax. The bay is located nearby. And if you go to him, the road will go down and down.
There is a version that the name arose because the lake is located in the middle of a tall pine forest. Or maybe because there is a high shore on the north side? As you can see, we can only guess about the origin of the name.
How to get there
Lake Vysokinsky of the Leningrad Region is located in the Vyborg District. Kilometers 12 in the southeast side of the city of Primorsk and 150 km south of St. Petersburg. You can get to the place both by rail and by road. Of course, itβs more convenient to use a personal car along the Primorsky highway. A diesel train will deliver from Zelenogorsk to the Ermilovo station, and then a 6-kilometer walk. And here it is, Vysokinsky Lake.
Relief
By size, Vysokinskoe is a rather large lake. Its length is 6 km, the width along the entire perimeter varies, its average indicator is 1.5 km. But the depth is uneven. If in the northern part it is about 5-7 m, then in the southern it reaches 12-15 m. In addition, at the time, the soil was specially removed near the military facility, and the depth in these places is about 70 m. Not far from the coast, where the bottom 1.5-2 m away from the surface, mostly stone, pebbles or sand, but deeper all covered with silt.
The color of water is from reddish to brown, in some areas greenish. From the vegetation: water lily, reed, elodea. The transparency in the lake is from 2 to 5 meters. A lot of silt. At Cape Komarin you can meet stone ridges. At the bottom there are metal debris from the Great Patriotic War. The bottom is dumped.
On the north side, Vysokinsky Lake is surrounded by a pine forest, on the south - a coastal zone designed and built up. The shores are sandy, mostly medium high, in the northern part there are steep and high. The river flows into the lake. Haymaking, follows the Vihayoki duct, the mouth of which is the Gulf of Finland.
Fishing lovers
Vysokinsky was created for fishing and fishermen. They like to catch perch, ruff, roach, and if you are lucky, you can catch a large pike. The favorite place for fishermen in the summer season is where the river flows into Lake Vysokinsky. Fishing will please both professionals and amateurs. There are also bream, pike perch, loach. Use any gear: donka, side fishing rod, mug, spinning. In the fall, at a depth of 5 m, you can catch whitefish. From the shore they mainly use a fishing rod. Catching the boat would be better. Vysokinsky is an amazing place for winter fishing. Spear fishing enthusiasts come here to compete.
Rest for children and adults
The Vysokinsky lake is also popular among ordinary citizens. In warm summer water, vacationers with children like to swim. If you have a boat, you can explore the surroundings. The entrances to the lake are not bad. There are many parking lots on the shore where people who come to relax set up tent camps. During the holiday season, there are many people, therefore, in order to take a good place, it is better to leave early.
Secret object
Since the middle of the last century, between the Gulf of Finland and Vysokinsky there is a military facility - a test complex. Its names have changed more than once. At one time there was a strict security zone, guarded by the troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Within a radius of 5 km there were no settlements, forest and agricultural activities were prohibited. That is why a large-scale tourist destination did not capture Lake Vysokinsky. The plant and the entire surrounding area have long been closed to the press. Dangerous tests related to rocket fuel (fluorine) were conducted here. The plant was closed 20 years ago.
Ecology
It is surprising that in the special regime zone deciduous trees had no obvious signs of fluoride damage. In the 60s of the XX century a new forest was planted in these areas. Soon there appeared a brood of grouse, as well as other species of rare birds. And this is definitely a good sign.
Oddly enough, but the water in the lake is cleaner than in neighboring bodies of water. The coastline is weakly overgrown with reeds. And thanks to the special bottom, the water is very clear, which diving enthusiasts will really like.
