Today in the Russian Federation there are more than 90 entities. One of the administrative regions is the Trans-Baikal Territory.
State edge symbols
Each administrative territory, according to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, is required to have its own graphic symbols: flag and coat of arms, anthem. The absence of these inalienable symbols may raise the question of the feasibility of the existence of a territorial unit.
The coat of arms of the Transbaikal Territory is one of the heraldic symbols of the region. Approved at the meeting of the regional legislative assembly on March 1, 2009 (anniversary of the creation of the administrative unit). The flag of the Trans-Baikal Territory was legally approved by the law of February 17, 2009.
What does the coat of arms look like?
Let's try to draw the coat of arms of the Trans-Baikal Territory. We take a cloth from fabric or paper in the size of 8: 9. For convenience, a rectangle with sides of 80 and 90 centimeters is suitable. The base color of the canvas should be yellow. Such a background symbolizes gold, that is, wealth. The coat of arms of the Transbaikal Territory was largely copied from the coat of arms of the Chita Region, so the flying eagle became the central element. Since ancient times, this bird is considered the main symbol of Siberian lands. In mythology and folk traditions of the northern Russian lands, the eagle was considered a symbol of courage. The strength of the spirit of the pioneers who mastered these lands in the distant past, when the level of technological development was primitive, was compared with the power of this bird.

In the claws of an eagle, it is necessary to draw a bow with an arrow. The fact is that this region is now located on the border of Russia with Mongolia. The coat of arms of the Trans-Baikal Territory reflects the historical development of the region. Since ancient times, the raids of the Mongol-Tatars have caused a lot of trouble to the Russian lands, so people had to stand up to defend their territories. Ancient people used a bow and arrow as a weapon.
Flag of the Trans-Baikal Territory
Now we will draw the flag of the territory. We take a cloth of fabric or paper. It is necessary to adhere to a proportion of 2: 3. For example, you can take a canvas with sides of 20 and 30 centimeters. You will also need paints to work. To paint the flag of the Trans-Baikal Territory, we will use paints of yellow, green and red colors. This color was chosen by the deputy corps of the region for the flag for a reason, because each color has its own symbolic meaning. For example, red symbolizes the earth. In the depths of the region there are a lot of minerals. Yellow is the steppe, and green is the taiga.
Separation of colors on the flag should be forked. On the left, we will paint in yellow, paint green on top, and the lower part will be red. We add that the colors and sizes of the flag are approved by law from 2009.
Trans-Baikal Territory: cities and towns
This region has 10 settlements. The largest of them in this territory is Chita. Received official city status in 1687. The population today is a little more than 343,000 people. The second largest city in the region is Krasnokamensk. It was founded in 1967. As of January 1, 2016, 53,242 people lived in it. We can talk about the dynamic development of the village, because in the region there are cities much older by the date of foundation, but 5-6 thousand people live in them (for example, Sretensk). At the beginning of 2016, 29,050 people lived in the city of Borzya. From 10 to 17 thousand people living in the village - a typical picture for the region, called the Trans-Baikal Territory.
Cities with this population:
- Baley;
- Mogocha;
- Nerchinsk;
- Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky;
- Hilok;
- Shilka.
The relative sparseness of the region indicates a relatively low level of industrial development and the remoteness of the territory from the European part of Russia.
Rivers and lakes
Argun is the main river in Transbaikalia. It flows through Russia and China. The total length of the river is 1620 kilometers. The Shilka River (length 560 km) also flows in Transbaikalia. Onon flows into this river, which begins in Mongolia. The length of this water artery (total) is 1032 km (3/4 of them in Russia). The Ingoda River (length 708 km) flows exclusively along the territory of the region and is one of the important components of the Amur basin. The Khilok River flows not only in the Trans-Baikal Territory, but also in Buryatia. The length of this waterway is 840 kilometers.
There are also 3 lakes in the region: Kuando-Charskoye, Toreyskoye, as well as Ivano-Arakhleyskoye.
Ethnic composition of the population
The bulk of the population of the region (almost 90%) are Russians. In second place are Buryats (6.8%). The third largest nation in Transbaikalia is the Ukrainians, whose population is 0.6% of the population. Also on this earth live representatives of the Tatar, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Kyrgyz, Belarusian and Uzbek ethnic groups.
We are observing a picture of a multinational land in which a lot of nationalities coexist peacefully on a rather small territory.
Zabaykalsky Krai is a very beautiful and interesting region of the Russian Federation.
