The main advantage of the technique of hand crocheting can safely be called the ability to change direction in any order. This greatly simplifies the manufacture of paintings with complex shapes or configurations. That is why many craftswomen, knitting toys and children's things, prefer to use patterns designed for crocheting.
Advantages of circular knitting
Many crochet dresses and blouses include a design element like a yoke. This is the name of the upper part of the product, which differs from the main canvas in pattern or color.
Often a crochet crochet is knitted round. This is convenient, since you can evenly distribute colored threads (if provided by the model), and also avoid the need to stitch individual parts.
The coquette can be one-piece or detachable. The second option is used if you plan to knit a product with a fastener.
Knitting round yoke
The round look of coquette is the most famous and popular, it is a modified collar. A round yoke is crocheted according to the scheme, since in order to obtain a part of the correct shape, it is necessary to follow the principles of expansion of the canvas.
In various sources it is quite easy to find suitable patterns. In extreme cases, you can adapt the scheme of any circular napkin or a fragment of a tablecloth (skipping knitting the middle and choosing the first row at a distance of about 8-10 cm from the center).
Rectangular Raglan Coquette
Knitting a rectangular yoke is significantly different from manufacturing a round part. The beginning of knitting is also a chain of air loops, but the principle of expansion is completely different. The addition of loops is not distributed over the entire length of the row, but focuses at four points. In each of them, two loops are added when knitting the front row. Thus, every two rows, the canvas is increased by eight loops. This method is used in order to later extend the knitting of each face of the quadrangle and obtain details of the front, back and sleeves.
The pattern (crocheting a yoke) can be seen in the photo below.
It shows how to knit a solid yoke, but you can also make this part in the same way by applying a pattern with transverse stripes.
The finished product with a rectangular yoke looks like it is connected according to the raglan method. An important feature of this coquette is that it allows you to tie a sleeve located at an angle of less than 90 degrees (about 60 degrees) to the parts of the front and back. The advantage of this arrangement is the presence of the correct inclination of the shoulder of the knitted product, corresponding to the anatomical structure of the human body.
Crochet square yoke
It is convenient to knit a coquette of this shape if it is decided to compose this part from separate square fragments. It also looks good on sleeveless products (example in the photo below).
A square shape can be recommended for the manufacture of children's products. A crocheted coquette for a girl, as a rule, has a rather simple cut and does not require compliance with such accuracy of calculations as sweaters and dresses for adults. The only condition for a well-made product is compliance with the basic dimensions and the combination of yarn with fabric.
A crocheted children's coquette involves the use of a minimum amount of yarn and allows you to create an original dress even from a colored scarf (the author of the product in the photo did just that).
A feature of the coquette shown is that its lower edges do not close and do not stitch.
The armhole is formed by a yoke cloth on top and a scarf fabric on the bottom. To prevent the fabric from puffing under the baby’s hands, an elastic elastic band is sewn to it from the inside.
Bottom yoke
Crocheting a yoke from the bottom is not very popular, but noteworthy. They resort to it if the specifics of the model does not allow the yoke to be performed by other methods described.
For the manufacture of such a coquette, it is necessary to prepare the details of the front, back and sleeves, tied to the armhole line. After they are sewn, they are connected in one circular row of single crochet columns and they begin to knit a yoke using the selected pattern.
The requirements for changing the dimensions of the fabric with such knitting are the same as in the paragraph on rectangular yokes, only here you need to consistently reduce the loop.
Crocheted crocheted from below can also be round, but in order to properly design it, it will take some experience and imagination of the knitter.
Important aspects
To decorate the product with a coquette is effective and does not become a headache, you should be aware of some features of the process:
- Round knitting leads to a gradual displacement of the vertical rows, this must be taken into account.
- It is worth paying special attention to the accuracy of comparing the beginning and end of the color range. With circular knitting, it can be difficult to put them in one line.
- A crochet coquette for a dress, the model of which provides for a fastener, must take into account the width of the strap. This means that the two parts of the part on which the fastener will be placed (for example, the back) should be narrower than the part in front. When the bar is sewn to them, their width will become equal.
- For women of pleasant completeness, models of summer dresses are well suited, with an openwork yoke that covers the shoulders and part of the hands.
- The disadvantage of calculating the hinges and sizes of the coquette is often the formation of too short armholes. You should carefully study this stage of the manufacture of knitted products. If the coquette knitting is already completed, but its width is not enough in order to get full armholes, continue knitting only the front and back parts.
Yarn Properties
A crochet coquette is often knitted using openwork patterns. An openwork cloth looks good if the selected thread is rather thin and tightly twisted (cotton, linen, wool mixture, polyamide). The exception may be different types of mohair, angora and cashmere. These types of yarn are very thin, but have weak torsion. The use of thick yarn automatically involves the use of either completely solid patterns, or the simplest ornaments with a small amount of lace.
The recommendations presented in this article will not replace personal experience, but will help to avoid the most common mistakes when crocheting yoke.
