Tomsk - one of the oldest cities in Siberia, is a regional center for sporting events and cultural events. All this takes place at the Sports Palace.
Cultural institution
The Sports Palace (Tomsk) was transformed from a hippodrome in 1970. In history, there was a time when the premises were owned by trade union organizations. In the spacious halls, cultural events were constantly held and are being held: concerts, competitions in football, volleyball, basketball. Thanks to the existing ice rink, hockey and figure skating competitions were held in the territory.
For residents, the year 1993 was remembered by the change of name to the Palace of Spectacles and Sports (Tomsk). The essence of the organization’s work has not changed. A huge number of city residents are located inside the building, which allowed them to hold New Year’s performances, public celebrations in honor of the city’s birthday, concerts.
For the show "Stars on Ice" this Sports Palace (Tomsk) was chosen. The ice arena temporarily became the set of Averbukh. Inside the building there are several entertainment venues:
- a cafe called "By a stray dog";
- gyms for fitness;
- sauna;
- pool.
Existing Institutional Problems
The Palace of Spectacles and Sports (Tomsk) has always had a good reputation, but recent events have attracted public attention. Entrepreneurs spoiled the honest name of the institution. They began an active struggle for the territory belonging to the complex.
What made the Sports Palace interesting? Tomsk is headed by financially interested individuals. The territory of the complex is already occupied by construction in progress - a multi-storey building, passing into ownership from one company to another.
Sports Palace (Tomsk) did not sell land to private companies, the documents clearly indicate a long lease. But apartments are already being sold to residents under the guise of privatized housing. The prosecutor’s office intervened, but there has been no result so far. Residents of the city want central authorities involved in a complex issue, suspecting the corruption of fraudulent activities.
