Kotelnicheskaya Embankment stretches along the left
bank of the Moscow River. It got its name thanks to the Kotelnicheskaya Sloboda, which was here earlier, in which craftsmen who made dishes and decorative objects from metal lived. The place was not chosen by chance, because it was here that the warehouse was located, in which the metal delivered along the river from the Urals was stored.
In the eighteenth century, artisans were supplanted by merchants and representatives of the nobility. And already in the 1870-1880s, a stone embankment was built. For all the time of its existence, it survived only one large-scale reconstruction - in the 30s of the twentieth century. The construction of the famous skyscraper was begun in 1938. The fully finished building was commissioned in 1952.

As soon as the house on Kotelnicheskaya Naberezhnaya was completed, the apartments began to be distributed among the new owners. Ordinary mortals could only dream of getting inside, because there lived military men, politicians and artists. It was considered special chic to have an apartment in the central section with a front entrance. For many years, the building was the highest residential in all of Moscow. It is mentioned in many literary works. The legendary house managed to appear in many films, both Soviet and modern.
