For beginner knitters who have just learned how to make front and back loops, experienced craftswomen usually recommend some kind of light knitting pattern to reinforce their skills. There is nothing better than various combinations of elementary loops.
There are a lot of ornaments that consist precisely of front (L) and wrong (I) loops (P). Typically, the pattern includes PIs, which are arranged in a specific order on the canvas associated with the LP. This article will discuss several fairly simple, but interesting and practical patterns. An excellent variant of applying a sequence of ornaments to the example of a children's vest is also proposed.
"Chess" of square blocks
The alternation of squares, consisting of four loops and arranged in a checkerboard pattern, is a classic male pattern. It is often used to make scarves, sweaters, vests, cardigans and a variety of wardrobe items.
This lightweight knitting pattern has several advantages:
- The edges do not curl.
- The average density.
- Economical material consumption.
- Easy to cut and expand the canvas.
- Looks great with any thickness of yarn.
The classic "Chess" is performed as follows:
- Remove the edge, * knit two drugs, then 2 PI *. The sequence from * to * is repeated to the end of the row, then the last P (edge) is knitted with PI.
- The wrong rows are knitted according to the pattern.
- The second row is performed in the same way as the first.
- Fourth row: remove the edge P, * knit two PIs, then two LP *. The sequence from * to * is repeated as many times as necessary, and the edge is performed on the wrong side.
- The sixth row duplicates the fourth.
Thus, chess always consists of two loops and two rows, but shifts every four rows.
To separate the ornament from other patterns, it is framed with several rows of scarf knit (all P in the wrong and in the front rows are knit LP).
Variants of the classic chessboard pattern
It should be noted that the “Chess” may include larger elements, which consist of more loops. For example, when knitting with a thin thread, you can increase the number of P in squares to three, four or even five. In this case, the elements of the ornament will be displaced every six, eight or ten rows.
Such a light pattern with knitting needles looks interesting , in which the proportions are slightly violated and the constituent elements resemble chess pieces, and bricks. This happens when each rectangular element consists of a large number of loops, but the displacement still occurs every two rows.
Knitting: Light Patterns, Zigzag
The broken line formed by the IP on the background of the LP is another popular pattern. A zigzag can consist of one, two or more levels. Scheme M. 1 perfectly illustrates the principle of the formation of a broken line from two levels.
Thanks to these zigzags, you can quickly knit a rather large fabric. This pattern does not require a special concentration of attention or specific skills. It is also used in the manufacture of scarves, hats, sweaters and other men's clothing.
Front and back loops diamonds
The last element of the scheme proposed above is a large rhombus. It consists of already familiar elements: squares. By and large, this is the same light knitting pattern called “Checkerboard”, but the square elements are arranged in a different order.
Rhombuses can have a completely different structure:
- IP only. Such rhombuses are convex and continuous.
- PI with LP and with crochets. The result is a light openwork pattern with knitting needles.
- PI, LP and volumetric cones. Such ornaments are no longer simple, as knitting "cones" requires certain skills.
Of course, there are many more variations. But all the rest are also related to more complex ornaments.
How to knit a vest with a simple pattern
Lightweight knitting patterns for beginners can be arranged in almost any order. In order not to waste time, you can repeat the model developed by the designer. It is balanced and suitable for both boys or men and women.
The diagram should be read from right to left, that is, at the beginning, the patterns are performed, which are shown in Figure M.1 on the right: several rows of scarf knitting, “Chess”, a number of PIs, a zigzag made of two layers of PIs. Then proceed to the execution of ornaments on the left: another zigzag, a number of FE, “Chess”, large rhombuses.
If necessary, repeat in the same order.
The model in the photo includes a 2: 2 elastic band with which the neck, armholes and bottom line are processed. Embodying her project, the craftswoman can use absolutely any rubber band at her discretion. The traditional option 1: 1, English or French gum will look good.
If the knitter has difficulty forming the neck, she can simplify her task by completing the upper part of the vest with a simple smooth surface. This in no way will worsen the appearance of the product, but will allow you to finish the job faster and get a really high-quality thing.
