South Goa: summary

South Goa is one of two counties in the state of Goa (India). The Portuguese founded a colony here in 1510, expanding it to the current borders of the entire state during the 17-18th centuries. Union territory, known as Goa, Daman and Diu, in 1961 became part of the Indian state. In 1965, Goa became an independent territory, which in 1987 was reorganized into a state with two districts, each with its own capital: Panaji in the north and Margao in the south.

South goa
In tourist terms, South Goa is similar to its northern neighbor. However, here the resort infrastructure is still relatively poorly developed, most of which have wild beaches. The hotel service is represented by luxury hotels and simple beach huts. But this place can be called an ideal choice for those who dream of a relaxing holiday, who want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the ever-growing stream of holidaymakers in the north.

South Goa County is well connected with other cities in India by transport. There are several ways to get to it - by plane, train or bus. The Madgaon Railway Station connects the county capital with many important landmarks, not only those located along the coast (Mumbai, Mangalore, Bangalore), but also with Delhi and other major cities in the country. The only airport in Goa is in the city of Vasco da Gama.

A twenty-kilometer wide strip of silver sand along the coast stretches from Majorda Beach to Cape Cabo de Rama. South Goa with its pristine beaches, beautifully preserved Hindu temples, wonderful cities built in the colonial era will undoubtedly delight even the most demanding traveler.
