The Botanical Garden in Minsk is a leading research center in the field of introduction and plant ecology, physiology and molecular biology. It contains more than ten thousand diverse plants: both ornamental and domestic.
Its official name is the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It has existed for eighty-two years, over the entire period of activity it has constantly expanded the boundaries and the list of presented plants. The Botanical Garden in Minsk in 1932 occupied an area of over ninety hectares, and currently it is about one hundred and fifty-three hectares. It is located in a
pine forest. Visitors always note a healthy atmosphere in this place.
Twenty-eight years after the foundation of the garden, the center was given the status of a research institute of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR.
The Botanical Garden in Minsk invites visitors to look at plants from different places on the planet. Presented tropical and subtropical crops of more than two thousand species. These are bamboo and palm trees, oranges and agave, eucalyptus and a bottle tree of Madagascar, cypress trees and evergreen jasmines. Many of these plants are placed in greenhouses. Entrance to the botanical garden is paid, for adult visitors a ticket costs twenty thousand Belarusian rubles, for pensioners, schoolchildren or students - ten thousand. To get into the landscape zone, you have to pay thirty thousand and fifteen, respectively. The ticket price for entering the greenhouse is the same for everyone - fifteen thousand Belarusian rubles.
The people call the Central Botanical Garden "Botany", the locals consider it a museum of living plants in the open. Minsk residents often spend their days off in a green corner. Human communication with plants gives new strength.

Flower collections
Employees of the Minsk Botanical Garden are helping to acclimatize in local conditions to new cultures imported from different parts of the world. For this, expeditions are organized to various climatic zones (for example, to the Carpathians or to the Urals). Now there are about 250 species of perennials from the Caucasus, Southern Europe and Africa, the Pamirs.
Also in the garden there are also collections of flowers familiar to residents of the capital. The garden displays new species of dahlias and lilies. Especially many varieties of tulips (500) and peonies (300). Workers take the most care of plants and conduct numerous studies.
Future plans
Every year, reconstruction works are carried out in the botanical garden in Minsk. Modern greenhouses have already been rebuilt, old ones are always being repaired. The administration of the natural center wants to replace the irrigation system of the garden. Also completely change the structure of the tracks and build more new greenhouses. Visitors really liked the idea of creating sections of individual countries, the administration plans to develop several more new mini-territories of European states.
There is an exposition greenhouse in the Minsk Botanical Garden; it opened seven years ago. For a long time, it was filled, occupying an area of more than 1200 square meters. The room is divided into separate zones, each has its own temperature regime and is designed for different plants.
Rich fund
Currently, the main task of the Central Botanical Garden of Minsk is to preserve all the richness of nature. This fund has been accumulating for many years. The garden is undergoing reconstruction, which will last several more years.
In the center of nature, they clean lakes that have not been cleaned since the 1960s. The garden administration wants to plant new shrubs and trees. After all, plants have been living here since the opening of the center and post-war time.
