Luga is a large industrial center. The city has a mining and processing plant, an abrasive plant, several food industry enterprises.

From Luga you can drive about an hour to the south and turn off the highway to Lyubensk. This settlement is very small, but interesting in that it has the estate of the composer Rimsky-Korsakov.
