This is the very first zoo in Berdyansk (a photo of it is presented above), which was built in Ukraine during its independence. Initially, it was located on a mountainside in a small area. For residents of the city the appearance of the zoo was a real surprise. Indeed, only in this place it was possible to see more than thirty species of animals that are listed in the International Red Book and in the Red Book of Ukraine.
Also here it was possible to get acquainted in detail with the collection (consisting of 130 copies) of exotic animals. In 2004, the Safari Zoo (Berdyansk) was visited by more than fifty thousand people. Much attention in this place is paid to the promotion of environmental and environmental issues.
A real celebration for the guests of Berdyansk and its residents was Open Day. On campaign days, people have the opportunity to watch animals for free.
From the very beginning, the staff of this park began work on reproducing endangered animals and preserving the gene pool.
During the existence of this zoo, six babies of the Far Eastern leopard were born, although in the world there are only forty individuals of this species. Far Eastern leopards are born only in Canada and the Berdyansk Zoo.
In the period from 2005 to the present, six lion cubs were born. The birth of white cubs caused a sensation. Lion cubs were born in October 2008. White lions are unique animals, and not only for menageries of the whole world, but also for wildlife. There are no more than seventy individuals on Earth in total. White lions were never born on the territory of the former USSR .
Four Ussuri tiger cubs were born between 2007 and 2008. This species is listed in the International Red Book. There are no more than two hundred Ussuri tigers left in the world.
Also born in the zoo were ten nosuhs, twenty raccoon raccoons, four monkeys, two camel, European doe, four porcupines, four Himalayan teddy bears and a llama.
All these kids, of course, delighted those who came to Berdyansk, visited the zoo. Also, these data allow us to say that favorable conditions were created in this place for the birth of animals and their lives.
New Safari
In 2009, a new zoo opened. It created comfortable living conditions for animals and birds. Spacious enclosures and cages were installed. Also in the zoo there are artificial ponds with islands of sand. On the territory of "Safari" there are green spaces.
Rare and exotic shrubs and trees are represented here. Plants such as mountain lavender, blue juniper, alpine cloves and Canadian spruce can be seen at the zoo . There is also a wonderful rose garden where twenty kinds of roses are represented.
The new park presents new exhibits. Also, scientific, cultural and educational work is being carried out here. There is also the Zoological Garden Junior Club. There are more than forty kids involved. In the future, it is planned to expand the club to one hundred and fifty people. The management also plans to make additional special sections.
The creation of the zoo has great social significance, its work is aimed at developing the spirituality of the people and supporting the image of the country. Note that for children with disabilities and children from the boarding school the doors are always open in this zoo.
