There is a widespread opinion that only people who are indifferent to the level of service or those who cannot afford an international passport and go to more fashionable resorts go to Abkhazia. However, this point of view is erroneous: in this sunny Caucasian country there is also a warm sea, amazingly beautiful nature and hospitable and sincere people. You should not be afraid that the difficult political relations between Russia and Georgia will spoil your vacation in Abkhazia: vacationers say that in the western coastal areas of the country, where, in fact, tourists come, everything is absolutely calm.
The Russians in this region are generally comfortable. Everywhere the ruble is used in everyday life, so there is nothing to lose on currency exchange. Crossing the border (a minibus from Adler goes to the border post) will not take more than half an hour. But then you crossed the state cordon. Where to go to rest in Abkhazia? And only 43 kilometers are separated from the Russian border of Pitsunda. There is also a sandy beach, but the main attraction of this paradise is the 12th-century temple, where chamber concerts are regularly held. The cheapest resort, where you can relax in Abkhazia, is New Athos. The landscapes here are of unearthly beauty: karst caves will amaze even people who are completely indifferent to speleology. It is very interesting to go on an excursion to the local natural wonder - the green Lake Ritsa, which is located at an altitude of 930 m above sea level. And it’s a crime against himself to miss a visit to the New Athos monastery of St. Simeon - the main shrine of these places.
The capital of the republic, the city of Sukhumi, is also a place where it is good to relax in Abkhazia. There are also small pebble beaches, a beautiful botanical garden and a monkey nursery, which is interesting to go with the children. Do not be afraid to visit local restaurants and cafes of national cuisine, shop at local markets, and bargain in small shops. The people here are friendly and open people. They are simply in love with their land. And they call it Apsny, which means in translation from Abkhazian "Country of the soul."
