The word "cattle" sounds insulting. It feels arrogance and openly declared superiority. So the Polish gentry called the peasants and other working people, in other words, the mob. In this sense, the word is used today by people who have achieved high social and material status and therefore believe that they are composed of different flesh and blood than less successful fellow citizens. However, this interpretation of this definition is incorrect.
To understand what rednecks are, you need to understand the etymology of this word. In its original sense, it means livestock and livestock and is of Eastern European origin. The attitude to pets is different. When someone is called a donkey, they imply his low mental abilities, while at the same time working as an ox is not at all embarrassing. You can recall other representatives of the agricultural population, roosters, chickens, geese, goats and goats, cows and bulls, sheep, finally. In general, few people will be pleased with a comparison with most representatives of this livestock.
In the literal sense, the word is practically not used in our time. What is cattle in the modern sense? These are people who voluntarily, by virtue of their upbringing or by the will of circumstances, renounced the right to have their own judgment about the world around them. Herdness manifests itself in different ways, but its main criterion is membership in a certain group with established rules of behavior. The goal of such a voluntary association is to minimize the mental efforts directed at making important and responsible decisions. It’s easier, no need to think, and practically no responsibility, at least it seems so.
Collectivism allows you to overcome shyness in those cases when you need to beat someone. The crowd consists of cowards, but you can be sure that such a cattle together will kill, ruin, trample and rob, that is, accomplish something that each individual participant does not dare. This psychological peculiarity is reflected in the criminal codes of different countries, which establish a more severe punishment for crimes committed by a group of people.
But not only the criminal manifestation has this social phenomenon. Regardless of the occupation, a person can express himself creatively, the desire for this is inherent in his original nature. The desire to learn something new, to understand, to learn, to rise higher in its development causes irritation to the gloomy crowd, which begins to actively oppose the upstart. A clear understanding of what cattle is when huge masses of people carry out some meaningless actions. No wonder the regimes, which are commonly called totalitarian, like to arrange demonstrations, processions and parades. Opposition revolutionaries use the same technique when they set the goal of subordinating the masses to their will.
Once a famous French fashion designer expressed the idea that fashion was invented for those who do not know how to dress. The desire to look like everyone else gives out cattle. The meaning of this word extends to that part of the population that eagerly absorbs the mediocre product of mass culture and defiantly rejects everything that is at least somehow different from the imposed format.
