Four-blade - a timeless skirt. Learn to sew it.
Many women in everyday life prefer to wear trousers and jeans, but when the time comes for the holidays, then almost all go to dresses and skirts. The choice on the market is huge, but, alas, the size does not fit, the length is not the same, the fabric does not like, at the waist it is wide, at the hips it does not fit narrowly or at the waist. Almost everyone faced this, in the end, another thing appears in the wardrobe that I donβt really like. To avoid such unpleasant moments, you can sew the skirt yourself.
The simplest models of skirts that can be sewn at home
There are different models of skirts, some of them are quite simple, with others you need to work hard. One of the most affordable options is a four-blade. The skirt, of course, can have complex modifications with a combination of fabrics, yoke, slot, pockets and decorative elements. Decorative stitching, a belt, a hem, hemings and loops are often used as additions to the basic model of a product. But before moving on to complex finishing options, you need to try to sew something simpler to develop skills. Four-blade is a timeless skirt, and it is perfect for beginners. Due to the length of the product, you can create different images, such a model sits well on almost every woman. Choosing different shoes, you can change the style: with moccasins, he will be free, with shoes-boats - business.
Pattern in 10 minutes
Itβs worth mentioning right away that patterns on a six-link are built on the same principle, the main thing is to understand the basics. As always, work begins with construction. A tracing paper is most often used for a drawing, but a thick Whatman paper and flipchart paper may be suitable. In an extreme case, newspapers will go and wallpapers, there are craftswomen who work with transparent cellophane.
First you need to take measurements and write them in a working notebook.
Measure Name | Brief designation | Measurement result, cm |
Waist circumference | FROM | 70 |
Hip girth | ABOUT | 100 |
Length of the product | DI | 65 |
Let's take arbitrary measurements close to real sizes.
Our goal is a four-blade (skirt), which means that the product will be sewn from four elements (parts), but only one piece is used for their cut. The pattern is built according to the taken measurements.
Waist circumference should be divided into 4 (number of wedges): 70: 4 = 17.5 cm.
The hips should be divided into 4 (number of wedges): 100: 4 = 25 cm.
These measurements are enough to build the pattern we need. We draw a horizontal line on the tracing paper, 17.5 cm long (1/4 of the waist circumference). Divide the segment into two and set the point (center): 17.5: 2 = 8.75 cm.
From this point, we draw a line 65 cm long (DI) at a right angle to the bottom.
The most convex point of the hips is about 19 cm below the waist, in this case, you can separately measure this length. On the CI line, lay 19 cm from top to bottom and put a point. Through this point you need to draw a horizontal line at 25 cm (OB), respectively 25: 2 = 12.5 cm., I.e. put on each side 12.5 cm
When the main elements are marked on the fabric, you need to connect the side points with straight lines and draw the bottom. It turns out a trapezoid.
The red color indicates the four-blade version, which will not be so magnificent, but less tissue will be left on it. Also remember that the length of the skirt is 65 cm, so the sides should also be this length. Excess centimeters at the corners are rounded off with chalk and cut off.
Cut the skirts to the fabric
There are several options for how the four-blade skirt is laid out on the fabric. Description pretty simple. All parts are the same, which means that 4 wedges with allowances for the seams must be cut out of the fabric. In this model, you need to pay attention to the fabric itself. If there is a drawing, it should not be upside down, you need to check this moment before cutting.
Pile should be directed from top to bottom. If the fabric is plain and smooth, then the wedges can be laid out on the fabric alternately: the part with the waist up, the part with the waist down. This will save material and use it wisely. From the remaining segment, it will be possible to cut a belt or hem.
If the hip circumference is large enough, then all the fabric will go to the wedges, so when buying a cut you need to consider an additional 15-20 cm for the belt.
It is laid on tracing paper and on a six-blade fabric, like a four-blade. The skirt is sewn very quickly. Having spent only one day, you can update your wardrobe.
Assembly and grinding of finished parts
Ready-made wedges resemble a trapezoid.
The cut out parts need to be chipped together so that the fabric does not fit under the presser foot in the work, otherwise you will have to rip and stitch everything again. The four-blade skirt is sewn in even lines. When performing the last seam from above, you need to leave about 15 cm for the zipper.
A final fitting should be necessary to ensure that the product is suitable in size. If necessary, the craftswoman should make the last adjustments, for example, remove a little on the hips or slightly narrow at the waist. When the product has sat down well on the figure, you need to process the slices on the overlock, tuck the bottom and sew.
The final stages in the work
The appearance of the product will depend on how neatly and evenly the lines are laid, the zipper and belt are sewn. You can use hidden zipper or regular. The top of the product is processed either by turning or by a belt of the desired width. As a fastener, a button, button or secret fastener will do. You can see how the finished four-blade skirt looks like. The photo shows the model, the sewing of which is described in the article.
If a few centimeters are added along the hips, the skirt will be more magnificent and will not fit snugly on the figure. A playful cut can be left in front along the seam line.
