Knitted toys appeared, of course, not yesterday, and not even the day before yesterday. But the style of amigurumi conquered the world recently, because in Japan it originated only a couple of decades ago. At first, the craftswomen knitted toys that were copies of the characters in Japanese anime cartoons. Well, then in this style, figures began to be created of everything that surrounds a person from birth to the very last days - dolls, food, household items, natural phenomena - everything that you can see or just even imagine can be represented as an amigurumi toy .
The "dissimilarities" of amigurumi
Toys in the style of amigurumi are knitted and crocheted, although it is the crocheted crafts that appear most often. Amigurumi toys have some distinctive features:
- cute muzzles, even things inanimate in life in a toy image most often have eyes, a nose, a mouth;
- disproportionate ratio of large head to small body;
- paws, arms, legs, other limbs can be deliberately long;
- initially amigurumi are baby toys, although giant toys that reach half a meter in height fit in with this style.
Another feature is tight knitting, which allows the shell to keep its shape with virtually no stuffing. This is achieved with a thin, compared with the usual knit, hook. If for normal knitting you need a hook equal in diameter to twice the thickness of the yarn, then for the amigurumi style, the finer the working tool, the better. Any material is chosen - from natural cotton to textured synthetic yarn - it all depends on the craftswoman’s ideas.
The world of animals using the amigurumi technique
Most often, animals become objects of creativity for the amigurumi style. They can be depicted as the soul desires, adhering to the characteristic, distinctive for each type of signs. Not so long ago, the world of toys conquered the amigurumi monkey. Crochet patterns of relatives of people are very different, some of them are simple and accessible even to beginner needlewomen. Others will require skill and certain knowledge in their work in order for the idea to work out well. The amigurumi monkey’s hema and the work done on it will bring a lot of joy if everything is done according to the instructions and carefully.
Important element
Any toys created in this style (including the amigurumi monkey), the scheme, the description of which can be very different, always begin with the main element - the amigurumi ring. It is done simply: on the left hand, on the index finger, you need to wind two turns of the working thread so that the tail of the thread hangs freely and can be grabbed with your fingers and pulled.
Then a double crochet is knitted over these two loops and pulled together - this will not be considered a loop, just a fastening element. And then, as many loops fit in the ring as indicated in the instructions for use. When all the loops are connected, you need to pull the left tail of the thread. Thus, the looper ring is pulled together as tightly as possible, attaching the loops from the very beginning of knitting, which leaves no unnecessary holes in the toy.

The amigurumi monkey pattern (crochet) is a combination of single crochet bars and increments to expand the row or decreases to, respectively, reduce. Crochet amigurumi toys is based on these elements. The amigurumi monkey can be connected from separate elements - the head, trunk, muzzle, legs, ears and tail, which are then assembled into a single toy. And it can knit immediately as a whole - head plus torso, separately - everything else. The generally accepted designations for crochet elements are as follows: pssn - you need to knit a half-column with a crochet, stbn - a single crochet, ssn - knit a crochet.
Simple crochet amigurumi toys
Knitting pattern "Monkey" begins with the head, and the counting of loops - with the crown.
- 1 row: a ring of 6 loops;
- 2 row: 6 stitches add = 12 stbn;
- from 3rd to 11th row: add 6 loops in each row = 66 stbn;
- from 12 to 21 rows = 66 single crochet stitches in each;
- from 22 to 31 rows: uniformly 6 loops in each row = 6 stbn, pull the thread and trim.
Now the scheme of the amigurumi monkey will continue - we knit the torso. Amigurumi ring - bottom.
- 1 row: 6 eyelets of the ring;
- from 2 to 10 rows: in each row plus 6 stitches = 60 stitches;
- from 11 to 21 rows: 60 stitches in single crochet stitches;
- 22 row: reduce 6 stitches = 54 stitches;
- from 23 to 26 row: knit 54 stitches with single crochet;
- 27 row: reduce 6 stitches = 48 stitches;
- 28 row: 48 stbn;
- 29 row: reduce 6 stitches = 42 stitches;
- from 30 to 31 rows: 42 stbn each;
- 32 row: reduce 6 stitches = 36 stitches;
- 33 row: 36 stbn;
- 34 row: reduce 6 stitches = 30 stitches;
- from 35 to 37 rows: 30 single crochet;
- thread cut.
To knit the base of any toy that has a rounded body and head, you can use these patterns.
Now it's up to the muzzle:
- also begins with a ring consisting of 6 loops;
- from 2 to 4: plus 6 loops = 24 stbn;
- from 5 to 7 row: 24 stbn;
- from 8 to 10 row: plus 6 loops = 42 loops;
- in the 11th row, a place for the eyes is tied out: 1 stbn, 1 pss, 2 ssn in one loop, 2 ssn in one loop, 1 ssn, 2 ssn in one loop, 2 ssn in one loop, 1 ssn, 1 stbn, then the remaining 30 loops run with a single crochet;
- in the 12th row, the knitting of the place under the eyes continues: 1 stbn, 1 prss, 2 ssn in one loop, 1 ssn, 2 ssn in one loop, 1 ssn, 1 ssn, 2 stbn, 1 ssn, 1 ssn, 2 ssn in one loop, 1 ssn, 2 ssn in one loop, 1 ssn, 1 stbn, make the remaining 30 loops with single crochet;
- 13 row: make all loops with single crochet for harmonious edging of the muzzle.
Ears need to be doubled. With the main color thread for the outer part of the eyelet, knit a ring of 6 loops, then add 6 loops evenly in each of the 7 rows to make 42 loops. 8 row knit 42 single crochet.
Knit the inner part of the eyelet in the same way, but by 1 row and, accordingly, by 6 increments less - 36 loops. Stitch both parts of the eyelet together. Also tie the second ear.
The front legs fit in this way:
- 1 row: 6 eyelets per ring;
- 2 and 3 rows: 6 uniform increments = 18 loops;
- from 4 to 7 rows: 18 stbn;
- 8 row: reduce 6 loops = 12 loops;
- from 9 to 21 rows: 12 stbn;
- 22 row: reduce 6 loops;
- tighten the loops, cut the thread.
The hind legs consist of two separate parts - the feet and legs:
- feet begin to knit with 6 stitches of the ring;
- 2-4 row: plus 6 loops = 24 loops;
- from 5 to 9 row: 24 stbn;
- 10 row: remove 6 stitches = 18 stitches;
- 11 and 12 rows: 18 stbn each;
- 13 row: 6 loops reduce = 12 loops;
- 14 row: 12 stbn stitches;
- 15 row: reduce 6 stitches = 6 stitches;
- Tighten and cut the thread.
Legs:
- 1 row: a ring consisting of 6 loops;
- 2nd and 3rd row: plus 6 stitches = 18 stitches;
- from 4th to 9th row: 18 stb stitches each;
- 10 row: minus 6 loops = 12 loops;
- from 11 to 14 row: 12 stbn;
- Tighten and cut the thread.
The tail of the monkey knits on 6 loops of the ring as long as you want. When collecting a monkey, a piece of wire can be inserted into the tail, securing it with a loop inside the body, then it will be possible to bend and hang the monkey on its tail.
The connected parts are assembled, gradually stitching them together, eyes specially purchased in the store are attached to the muzzle, or suitable buttons are sewn on the substrate. The amigurumi monkey scheme will be available even to a not very experienced needlewoman, if you read it carefully.
Monkeys are different
Amigurumi toys are knitted according to different patterns and are obtained, respectively, different. Our example is crocheted amigurumi monkey.
